As expected the seasoned pro Steven Diez proved too strong for Nitin and he went down tamely in straight sets 3-6 , 0-6.

Yes, Diaz is a regular challenger level player. His ranking has come down a bit in recent times. So, he is playing these futures but still a bit too tough for Nitin at this stage. He fought well in first set but then fell away.

Arjun is tied 1 set all - 5-7 7-5 against third seed Nedelko.

Yes a brilliant win by Arjun in 3 sets 5-7,7 -5 , 6-4.
This was the match he had to win in his pursuit for a 300 range in the next 2 months and how well did he do it
Plays the experienced campaigner Steven Diez for a spot in the finals , but i fancy his chances here ,as he is coming in from playing high level ATP tennis in Poona,

Yes, best win of his career thus far for Arjun. He has clearly gained confidence from playing as a wild card at Pune ATP.

Great job by Arjun Kadhe to beat the second seed! (Sameer, you have the colour coding wrong though :-( — I thought for a moment that Nitin too had pulled off a sensation).

Oops, I wish that was the case. Changed the colour code Nitin.

Nice win by Arjun! Hope he can go one further here!

If this tournament is on clay, it's an especially sweet win as I thought he was a player with a strong serve which get's nullified some on clay. The fact that it is over an European who is presumably comfortable on clay makes it more creditable.

Yes Arjun, this is on clay ... The Hot Springs tennis center, Anning has red clay courts, where this tournament is played.

Arjun broke Diez and served for the match at 5-3 but gets broken. :-(

Damn, lost 4 straight games from 5-3 up to lose the set and the match. :damn:

At $15K China F2 Futures, Anning (Clay)

[SF] (5) Arjun KADHE (IND,610) l. (3) Steven DIEZ (CAN,312) 63 16 57

Great opportunity to earn more points here missed by Arjun.

Close loss! However, good confirmation that he can compete against the top 300 types. Looks like his ranking may be headed there if he keeps up this level of performance...

Yes, Arjun is clearly a top-350 type player currently, but he needs to be able to close out matches like this when he is serving at 5-3 in the final set. Meltdowns like this need to be avoided and overcome.

Our 3 players are again playing this week in China. So, I am opening a thread for this and moving earlier posts too here instead of discussing in multiple pages in " Misc. results for Indians abroad " thread.
