$50K(+H) Bangkok Challenger, Thailand- Jan. 2018

Post by sameerph »

Siddharth Rawat qualified for the main draw after a hard fight win in the final qualifying round as his opponent retired.

[Q1] (1) Sidharth Rawat (IND,542) bye
[Q2] (1) Sidharth Rawat (IND,542) d. Wei-De Lin (TPE,1415) 46 61 76(6)
[Q3] (1) Sidharth Rawat (IND,542) d. (8) Timur Khabibulin (KAZ,788) 26 76(5) 44 retd.

Main draw-

Singles

[R1] (Q) Sidharth Rawat (IND,542) vs. Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul (THA,487)
[R1] Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,428) vs (7) Yusuke Takahashi (JPN,282)

Doubles

[R1] (3) Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND)/ Christopher Rungkat (INA) vs Ti Chen (TPE)/ Flavio Cipolla (ITA)

I don't know why Vishnu and Bala are not playing here. Bala would have directly made the singles main draw and both would have been seeded in doubles.

Sid could not take advantage of an decent draw and went down in straight sets to his Thai opponentn 6-7, 3-6.
Sasi also not looking good and possibly will meet the same fate as Sid as he is 2-5 down in the first set against the 7th seed Japanese who will now serve for the first set

Yes, both lost in first round.

[R1] (Q) Sidharth Rawat (IND,542) l. Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul (THA,487) 67(3) 36
[R1] Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,428) l. (7) Yusuke Takahashi (JPN,282) 26 75 06

They are still struggling to take the next step to challenger level.
