Yes, she needs to start beating such payers consistently. But then again, if she is experimenting enough in her matches, and trying to improve the accuracy of her less-accurate shots rather than focus only on winning matches, I don't have a big problem in her losses. Sania used to do that when she was at a similar age. Used to drive us crazy with some of her matches where she would keep hitting the "bad shots" and lose. She had that kind of devil-may-care attitude. Some of those bad shots became her strengths later. It all started falling in place and she shot up to the top-100 at one point later.sameerph wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:21 pmI did not expect Rutuja to win and she gave a much better fight against the same player who had thrashed her 16 26 last week. But, disappointed by Karman's loss here. She needs to start beating these players in 200-250 range regularly if she wants to move ahead to top 200. She does beat them every now and then but is not consistent in winning against these level players still.
Karman is the type of player with the tools that allow her to try a lot more with her game than most others - so I hope she would try a lot more stuff than others can even try. If that is why she loses some of these matches, then things are okay. If it is because she goes into a shell and starts choking, that's another thing. Hopefully not. I am not too down on her progress. She has played a lot of good players in the juniors and the pros, has got some good coaching, and is primed to take off at some point to top-150 or top-100. Stay injury free and keep working on the game.
