Re: End of the year Women's ITF tournaments - Indore/Solapur/Pune/Navi Mumbai
This tournament started out being more competitive than last week's with three higher ranked players among the seeds. But most of the potential threats have already been eliminated, including both of last week's finalists (Garcia Perez and Dunne), the top seed and last year's champion Zidansek, and the dangerous Doroshina.
Other than Ankita, the only seed in the QFs is Polina Monova. It's too bad that she's in the same half as our girls and will most probably face the winner of the Ankita/Karman match. Karman had pushed her to the limit in June, losing 3-6 6-1 7-5. But Monova is steady and consistent, and achieved the biggest win of her career just last week, beating Timea Babos.

Excellent, so we finally have the home advantage working. Expected win for Ankita ( in an easier manner than expected) and a great upset win for Karman.
Ankita and Karman have never met each other in pro circuit. So, both of them would be itching to prove who is real India #1. Of course if Karman wins tomorrow against Ankita and also wins her SF, she will overtake Ankita as India #1.

How bad is Dhruthi's form?
The girl who drubbed her 61 60 yesterday just got thrashed 61 61 by Marcinkevica, who herself is not in good form

Great win from Karman and Ankita. I was hoping Ankita would perform well in this last tournament of the year. Sad that they both have to face off in QF but

Yes, looks like they finally heard our complaints. Hopefully, one of them will now go on and win the title....sameerph wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 1:53 pm Excellent, so we finally have the home advantage working. Meanwhile, Pranjala and partner (after winning their QF 63 62) have entered the doubles SF, where they play the top seeds (who beat Riya/Dhruthi 61 60 in the QF). Mihika and partner lost their QF 46 36.

The Battle for India #1 is the second match on Court 2. Amazing that the host nation's top two players are not playing on the main Court 1

I haven't seen this venue, but 15Ks and 25Ks usually take place at facilities where the courts are laid out adjacent to one another. Don't expect court 1 to be in a stadium. It's probably not any more prominent than the other courts. For all you know, court 2 might be the 'centre' court!

Interesting to see that Pranjala has paired up with her Orange Bowl partner(they had won the event). Hope they win here as well!

I noticed that court-2 assignment too. But like Daniel said, Court 2 could well be the middle court among 3 main ones numbered 1-2-3, lengthwise between the bleachers, with the spectators sitting behind the two service lines. In those cases, the middle court is considered the "center court" and more people can see the match. Not sure if that is the layout here.
EDIT: Checked the pictures at the Ganesh Naik Tennis courts website and also the satellite pics on google. Yes, these are three courts like I said above, except that they seem to have no spectator seating at all

Yes Jay you are right , the complex has 3 courts parallel to each other making a today of 6 courts and holding the match on the second court , would enable spectators to watch from 3 side's , 2 sidelines and 1 base line.jayakris wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 6:45 amI noticed that court-2 assignment too. Ankita vs Karman, 7-5 4-3, with KKT serving, up a break.... And Ankita breaks her at 30-40... 7-5 4-4 and AR to serve. From 40-15, it goes to deuce and three BPs but AR survives to go to 7-5 5-4 ... KKT to serve. It goes to a deuce but no BP, and she holds. AR holds at 15 to reach 7-5 6-5. KKT down 15-30, 30-30, double fault MP, saves it, deuce, AD out MP. Ankita wins! 7-5 7-5.
