What a dominating win by Nandini!!! Surprising score line from Pranjala. Hopefully she and Zeel won’t have a problem defeating their R2 opponents.

All 8 singles seeds and all 4 doubles seeds have advanced to R2 and QF. That is rather rare. That means tough matches for others. Hoping for Pranjala to justify her seeding, and for at least one upset from Zeel, Rutuja or Nandini. Would be great to get a Pranjala-Zeel quarterfinal. Mahak had taken out Herdzelas last week in straight sets. Can Zelligator do an encore?

Zeal is winning 53% on her 2nd serve in spite of 7 DF. So she is definitely playing well.

Despite the 2-6 score, the first set was actually quite close on points. Zeel had set pts at 26 54 and let them go, but did the job soon... All even at 26 75 00.

Nandini's match has started. She just got broken in the 5th game, 2-3. That is a close match too, so far.

Zeel lost 26 57 36 and Nandini lost 16 46. Looking a bad day for us so far. Hope Pranjala and Rutuja salvage something for us.

Rutuja scored a comeback win over last week's finalist Veselinovic after losing the first set ... In the quarters, she is facing last week's winner Doroshina.

In the second round, Pranjala and Zeel lost in the three sets after losing the first set.

At $15K ITF Women's Tennis Tournament 2017, Solapur, India

[R2] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,570) bt (4) Ana Veselinovic (MNE,425) 46 64 5-2 retd.

[R2] (Q) Nandini Sharma (IND,UNR) l (6) Samantha Murray (GBR,440) 46 16

Bad loss for Pranjala there against a lower ranked Thai girl. She had beaten this Thai player in Asian junior championships a couple of years back and should have won her again.

Zeel lost a close one against a top 400 player. She had a ace and 11 double faults in the match against 5 aces and 2 double faults by her opponent. So, she was -13 on this count and overall won 13 points less than her opponent. When it was dead even when ball was in play. Zeel will need to improve her serve to win matches at this level.

I expected Nandini to lose but with a better scoreline as she has beaten a top 500 player recently in Portugal.

Good win by Rutuja against a player who beat Mahak easily in last week's SF.

Yes, bad week for us in singles. Pranjala is in doubles final with her Taiwanese partner.

From next week it gets tough for our players in 2 $25K challengers in Pune and Navi Mumbai. Ankita and Karman will be seeds but those will be the only 2 Indian players who will get in directly in the main draw. Pranjala, Mahak, Zeel, Rutuja should get wild cards. Hope Nandini can get a qualifying wild card.

Pranjala and her partner did win the doubles title in Solapur.

[R1] Ching-Wen HSU (TPE) / Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND) [2] 6-0 6-1 Sindhu JANAGAM (IND) / Arthi MUNIYAN (IND)
[QF] Ching-Wen HSU (TPE) / Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND) [2] 6-1 7-6(4) Qianxin KONG (CHN) / Jiakang LI (CHN)
[SF] Ching-Wen HSU (TPE) / Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND) [2] 6-3 6-7(7) [10-8] YeXin MA (CHN) / Kaylah MCPHEE (AUS) [4]
[F] Ching-Wen HSU (TPE) / Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND) [2] 7-5 1-6 [10-6] Maya JANSEN (USA) / Erin ROUTLIFFE (NZL)

4th doubles title of the year ( and career) for Pranjala as against 1 singles one.

The Thai girl who beat Pranjala in the second round has gone on to reach the final. So, looks like she lost to an inform player in singles.

Thai girl Thamchaiwat won the title in Solapur beating last week's winner Doroshina in the final.

These are the first round qualifying results this week in Pune 25K-

Ana VESELINOVIC (MNE) [1] 4-6 6-2 7-5 Jennifer LUIKHAM (IND)
Sarah Beth GREY (GBR) [13] 6-3 6-0 Britt GEUKENS (BEL)
Samantha MURRAY (GBR) [2] 6-4 6-3 Varunya WONGTEANCHAI (THA)
Zeel DESAI (IND) [16] 6-3 6-3 Snehal MANE (IND)
Aliona BOLSOVA ZADOINOV (ESP) [3] 6-2 6-0 Aastha DARGUDE (IND)
Fatma AL NABHANI (OMA) [11] 6-1 6-1 Neha GHARE (IND)
Ellen ALLGURIN (SWE) [17] 7-5 6-2 Erin ROUTLIFFE (NZL)
Ho Ching WU (HKG) Ching-Wen HSU (TPE) [12]
Nagi HANATANI (JPN) [5] 3-6 6-2 6-3 Weronika Jasmina FORYS (POL)
Ksenia PALKINA (KGZ) [15] 6-3 6-3 Ramya NATARAJAN (IND)
Kaja JUVAN (SLO) [6] 7-6(0) 6-3 Ekaterina VISHNEVSKAYA (RUS)
Kaylah MCPHEE (AUS) 4-6 6-3 6-2 Nudnida LUANGNAM (THA) [9]
Haruna ARAKAWA (JPN) 6-4 4-6 6-3 Ekaterina YASHINA (RUS) [7]
Elena BOGDAN (ROU) 6-3 6-4 Cristina ENE (ROU) [10]
Emily WEBLEY-SMITH (GBR) [8] 6-3 6-0 Humera Begum SHAIK (IND)
Dhruthi TATACHAR VENUGOPAL (IND) 2-6 6-3 6-4 Albina KHABIBULINA (UZB) [14]

Nice upset win by Dhruti against the Uzbek player. Feel bad for Jeniffer who came so close to pulling off an upset win over top seed in qualies.

So, only 2 Indians in final qualifying round later today.

[Q2] (16) Zeel DESAI (IND,610) vs. (2) Samantha MURRAY (GBR,435)

[Q2] Dhruthi TATACHAR VENUGOPAL (IND,751) vs. Emily WEBLEY-SMITH (GBR,545)

Murray is a former top 200 player. So, that is a tough match for Zeel.

Zeel comes up with a hard fought upset win to qualify for the main draw.

At $25K ITF Women, Pune

[Q2] (16) Zeel DESAI (IND,610) d. (2) Samantha MURRAY (GBR,435) 75 26 64

Dhruti has won the first set 6-2 against another Brit, 8th seed Emily Smith. She need to carry on that to become the second Indian to qualify for main draw.

Dhruti also posted a nice upset win to move to main draw.

[Q2] Dhruthi TATACHAR VENUGOPAL (IND,751) d. Emily WEBLEY-SMITH (GBR,545) 62 26 75

So, there will be 8 Indians in the main draw- Ankita, Karman, Zeel, Dhruti and 4 wild cards- looks like Pranjala, Rutuja, Riya and Mahak will be those.
