Lost a sitter of a point being 3-1 up in tie break when Baghdatis slipped
Yes that was a sitter of a volley to have missed. It would have given him the decisive edge in the TB (going up 4-1 with two minibreaks).

That first set by Yuki is a classic example of a player fighting his mental demons.
Baghdatis is there for the taking in his current form. He is hardly able to move side to side.
This match can still be won if Yuki lifts his game, just a little bit.
this is not over, yet.

Yuki may have missed it somehow (which is totally inexcusable), and Baghdatis wouldn't have complained for obvious reasons. But players will always have razor sharp focus on what the game score is. Their tactics for each point is entirely based on this.

Yuki is wearing Addidas T shirt and Asics shorts , that's pretty strange.

Sloppy game by Yuki to get broken and is now 4-5 in the second set.

Down 2 sets to love. No point playing well in phases, if the outcome is this bad. Massive opportunity missed here: a qualifier rarely gets to play a lower-ranked player in the main draw. Yuki has totally flubbed his chance.

Whether it's the lack of sponsorship (Adidas and Asics combo speaks about it?) or no general support for India number 1, it seems Yuki has become too cold with his career and his game. How come he doesn't throw a banana at the chair? As it was evident with the bizarre scoring which I thought Bhambri had broken Marcus.. This is absolutely disappointing and I feel sorry. I thought he'd be third time lucky after drawing Murray and Berdych previously

Crowd is irritating and reminds me of Somdevs game against Jerzy. If he had the same mental fortitude like Buji, maybe he could have reversed the tide because he clearly has a fluid game and gets better of Baghdatis most of the time. The umpire is shit, the scoring is pathetic, the linesmen are calling the fouls late and Bhambri is too cold. See y'all at the Challengers

:Offtopic: In two major upsets on the opening day , Kyle Edmond took out Kevin Anderson & Mathew Ebden got the better of John Isner
How well these Challenger players have made the transition to the mainstream Tennis

Never seen such a incidence at even Challenger level nor ATP and This might be first by any player in a GrandSlam wearing two separate brands of clothing

Yuki lost the match 6-7, 4-6, 3-6
he was quite disappointed, and he himself to blame as he has 54 Unforced error to his name as compared 20 of baghdatis.

I think there was no cheer for yuki at all for even good winners, and in 3rd set he was just trying to play out while there was loud cheer for small points to baghadatis. Umpire had to say please few times to stop them from singing and shouting.
Great start for yuki to 2018 as compared to 2017, a fit yuki would improve more and can be able to win such matches in future.

54 unforced errors in a match is unpardonable. You cannot win matches at this level with that. On the top of that, Yuki's serve speed is so short of average ATP standards. I did not watch the second set but saw later part of third set and Baghdatis had started playing much better gaining from confidence gained from winning the first 2 sets. Still Yuki could have done so much more especially in that first set.

His unforced error counts really built up in the second half of the match.

They flashed a stat that his average service game took nearly twice as long (in time) than Baghdatis' service games even though Yuki won his share of points on Baghdatis' serve and had the same number of break points until the last few games. This was because he literally has to win each point with his ground strokes whereas Baghdatis gets at least some free/easy points in each service game.

Bottom line is that Yuki actually had the slightly better ground game but it could not overcome the difference in the serves and ultimately Yuki faded away towards the end of the 3rd set. Disappointing loss but the overall better player won.
