Yuk1 closes the second set out at 6-3.

I hope he sustains this momentum going into the 3rd set...no reason to start making a ton of unforced errors now. He needs to forget the first set happened.

This is a faster court but still guys are hanging back and slugging it out. Not a lot of effort to transition to net and try to force some errors that way. Whoever takes the initiative on this will surely leap ahead. This is going to be a grind however you look at it.

Yuki pulls ahead 2-1 with a hold. Good thing the other guy is erroring on the returns some more this set. Not happy with so many missed first serves.
Yuki pulls ahead 3-2 on his serve...hopes he finds a way to break now.
Polansky holds at 3-3 - he looks cheerful and confident however - Yuki needs to shake this guy up a bit.

Yuki 4-3 up on serve in the final set , after forcing an error from polansky by rushing to the net
Should be doing more of net rushing and chip and charge

Things looked shaky at 3-3 0-30 but Yuki managed to hold a long game avoiding 2 BPs. Deserves to win the match now. Come on!

PP serves a double to lose the game and Yuki serving for the match now :D

5-3 40-0 3 easy match points!!! Wins it :bounce:

What wonderful news to wake up to. One Indian in the main draw, surely another to follow soon after. I don’t understand what is happening to Yuki in the first set of his matches though. Abject losses in the first sets of Q1 and Q3 are a bit worrying! But all’s well that ends well!

Vishnu (VReddy), the Bhupathi-Moya match was 20 years ago at Wimbledon (just a year or so before you started following tennis!). Moya won 64 46 64 26 63

[Q3] 15-Yuki Bhambri (IND, 121) d. 26-Peter Polansky (CAN, 139) 16 63 63

Nice, facile victory over the former Canada #1, albeit after a horrendous first set. (If it is any compensation, Tomic also lost his first set 1-6, but has come back to take the second 7-6...these 25 years old seem to be suffering similar blues..). Big pay day for Yuki, plus a ton of points. Now, please win a round or two and make us really happy!!

Excellent news to wake up to. Yuki back to the main draw of Australian open and another great comeback from being outplayed in first set.

Financially too this should be a great boost to him.

Yes, superb comeback win by Yuki against Polanksy ... I think, first time Yuki is qualified for the grand slam main-draw through qualifying.

Alright, Yuki!!! I was away at a conference and am at a symposium that I am organizing. Could only look at final scores, for the last few days. This makes my day!! Beautiful comeback after that miserable start.

I got a feeling that he was trying a few things towards the end of the first set. And, he would crank it up at the beginning of the second. Whether that would have been enough one is never sure about. Glad that he did and it worked. All's well that ends well. But if it was what I thought it was --- that he gave up on the first set and was experimenting towards the last few games (and I may well be wrong) --- then that is a bit dangerous because sometimes if you give up on the first you are giving up on a comeback you could have made in the first set however lost it seems. Anyway, all this may be my fertile imagination ...

On to the main draw.

No. This is the second time. He also qualified for Australian open main draw in 2015.
