Arjun's probable QF opponent is former WR #6 junior Jurabek Karimov. The Uzbek won the Malaysia F1 last week. Tough match.

Jurabek Karimov was the runner-up in the Australian Open junior singles last year. So he can play. But Arjun is ranked much higher, is more experienced, and should be expected to win this match, especially after ousting the second seed in the previous round.

Plus, the winner of any week tends to be the most vulnerable in the QF and SF of the next week. Right time for Arjun to put an end to that guy's run .. Get up on top of him and stay there, as he will probably lose focus somewhere along the way...

Rankings are a bit of misnomer for both Arjun and Karimov as they have played full schedule due to their college/junior circuit commitments. I think both are top 500 level player right now at least.

This Karimov guy has beaten 2 players ranked close to top 500 last week and has not dropped a set in the 7 matches here. As Jay said, hope he loses some focus as physically he may not be that tired die to straight set wins.

Looking at these results it's pretty clear that our national level of play and likely coaching is pretty substandard. I think Dalwinder Singh won our national title and seemingly can't win qualies matches in the lowest level futures. It looks like our players have to play an extended amount of time in the US or Europe before they become competitive at the lowest professional level.

True, for most of the Indian players ( unless it is evident that they are truly talented like Yuki or Sumit), the best way to develop their game better would be to a go to a US college. Other way to spend a long stints at European acedamies if they have money and sponsorship to do that like RamK had or Adil Kalyanpur has now. Look at how players who went to US college system with similar age and talent level as Dalwinder are coping better at the futures level like Arjun Kadhe or Rishab Agarwal.

Tough matches for all three of them Arjun and Suraj are playing higher ranked players than them whereas Sid is playing against borna Gojo who has been quite impressive at ncaa league winning against some quality opponents so I think it’s going to be a tough one for sid

Yes, that top-100 win is impressive but otherwise he has a pretty average 9-7 record in futures coming into this tournament (with futures in the US, Turkey, and Asia). He is just 19, so is perhaps finding his way in the pros. Good luck to Sid!
