Hate to say it but I think we know how this is going to end unless Yuki wins this match in straight sets.

Yuki takes a medical time out. Something to the foot it seems.

Dzmhur holds at 15 and takes the second set 7-5. :-(

Up 3-0 and had 0-30 for another break. All to no avail.

Good fight by Yuki to take a top 40 player deep into the 3rd set, however medical timeouts and close losses seem to Yuki's career story. :-(

Sad to see that he let it slip from 3-0 up in the final set. Obviously it was rapidly downhill from that point, suggesting that endurance remains a problem for him. He needs to work on that in the off-season. What should be clear to him is that he definitely belongs at this level, only if he can manage to get his fitness issues sorted out.

He surely does not seemed an underdog....he was fighting toe to toe...
damir Jus xplains why he is a top 40....nothing much of a difference jus the temperament
He will surely breakthrough but needs to stay fit(thats the main thing)
:goodluck: for the remaining tournaments

Good news is that Yuki seemingly has top-50 game.

Now if only he can only get his fitness and injury/pain management to cooperate, he could actually get there. Overall his fitness seems to have improved but to win consistently at this level it likely needs to go up a further level. Perhaps, some Andy Murray like interval training may be in order in the off-season.

Likewise, with his injury/pain management. He has been able to play a year without large breaks by suitably spacing out his tournaments. However, it does seem like he has niggles each time he has an extended run (like after the Davis Cup and after this run), so that is something he still needs to work on. Yuki still seems to be using the tennis elbow brace - don't see too many other pros use it. Not sure if elbow pain is partially the reason why he often wilts in the longer matches.

I think a bit of a mental ability to finish things out sometimes is lacking. But, maybe that is just my perception and he has not really choked that much.
