For quite some time, we have lost our excellence in men's doubles. So, I don't expect much in that regard.
Now, we have become mixed-doubles specialists.

Mahak is fighting against top-10 Chinese girl ... After losing the first set Mahak was a break up but Wang broke back and again broke Mahak in 11th game ... Mahak broke Wang when she was serving for the match and then took the tie-break for taking this match into the third ... But from 1-all Wang dominated the set winning last 5 games (though Mahak stretched Wang in the final game and saved a couple of match points).
[R1] Mahak Jain (IND,31) l (6) Xin Yu Wang (CHN,10) 36 76(5) 16

And Zeel also lost in three sets, so with that, the singles challenge got over in the juniors ... After losing the first set Zeel won the second set in the tie-break but failed to keep momentum in the third.
[R1] Zeel Desai (IND,24) l Maria Camila Osorio Serrano (COL,18) 46 76(5) 36

Re: US Open Tennis 2017, Aug 21-Sept. 10
Indian juniors had better results at the start of this year at the Australian Open. This US Open has been a disappointment. I was hoping the crew would build on the some of the positives at the Australian Open and fare well the USO but they seem to have regressed.
Siddhant Banthia (lopsided loss - 1 and 2), Zeel Desai, Mihika Yadav and Mahek Jain all were out in the first round and Nitin Sinha out in the Q1.
Doesn't look like AITA is putting any efforts on player development.

Re: US Open Tennis 2017, Aug 21-Sept. 10
In all fairness, Zeel and Mahak were very unlucky (despite their good rankings) to run into even higher-ranked players in R1, and they put up a tough fight.
Mihika, Siddhant and Nitin were a tad disappointing.

@sportsfan...please watch your words. How could you be so insensitive and say such things? Do you even have a slightest iidea of AITA's operations and how much they are doing already for the sport? What more do you expect, man? You want Mr.Khanna to lay out his life or something?

Re: US Open Tennis 2017, Aug 21-Sept. 10
Our sports bodies are utterly useless.
Vijay and Anand Amritraj were products of their mother's efforts, Ramanathan and Ramesh Krishnan the products of the coaching and nurturing of TK Ramanathan (father of RK and grandfather of Ramesh, who also benefited from his dad's coaching/nurturing/advice), while Leander was a product of BAT. AITA was a bystander.

Re: US Open Tennis 2017, Aug 21-Sept. 10
Disappointing losses in juniors. As PKB said, both Zeel and Mahak had a tough draw and actually went into this tournament without any match practice at all which would not helped at all. Again bad on part of AITA. They cannot even fund our top juniors to go for 2-3 weeks at a stretch around slams.
