Re: Tata Open Maharashtra 2018
bad misses from yuki as he could not convert 3 BP's for the second time.
now he finds himself at 0-30, 15-40 2BP's on his serve and he is broken..

Re: Tata Open Maharashtra 2018
and now it is 4-2 to the Frenchman in the final set
this two week period yuki is protecting 65 points out of which 20 he has done so far but doesn't seem likely he will cross that number (20) this week

Re: Tata Open Maharashtra 2018
all over in 3 sets
the writing was on the wall when he fell down 3 love in the second set
and the key here was the breakpoints conversion , could convert only 1 out of the whopping 8 he got , whereas the Frenchman got only 2 and capitalised on both of them

[R2] Yuki Bhambri (IND, 118) l. Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA, 81) 64 36 46
Massive opportunity missed. Yuki had three break points each in Herbert's first two service games in the final set, but couldn't convert one. Immediately after the second of those, Herbert broke him. Yuki stayed close (he was up 15-30 in Herbert's last service game), but an experienced pro doesn't let those opportunities slip. Herbert has a big, effective serve, but that cannot excuse letting six break opportunities go. Playing at home, this was a big chance for Yuki to take a step forward in his career, but that was not to be.

Re: Tata Open Maharashtra 2018
Sure why not..
provided he is 100% ok ,fitness wise in the blaring heat
And this is one down side of the Pune Open , with its cool , chilly, altitude conditions in the evening it is the coldest amongst any of the Pre AO ATP warm ups. Surely not the ideal type of preparations for the Australian Open
Whereas Chennai with its warm humid cauldron atmosphere, perfectly fitted the bill as far as simulation to the hot Australian weather was concerned , and that itself was also one of the motivating reasons for big Stars to turn up at Chennai.
In the long run the cooler Pune conditions could be a deciding factor for the Foreign players in participating at Poona.

Yes, disappointing loss for Yuki. He should be winning these matches against players ranked between 75-100 if he has to himself move to top 100 and he had opportunities in the third set to go ahead which he missed.
Ram's match against Cilic has just started.

Re: Tata Open Maharashtra 2018
Cilic got an early break and was going along smoothly in the first set but gets broken by RamK while serving for the set at 5-3.
But, he breaks RamK at love to take the first set 6-4.

Re: Tata Open Maharashtra 2018
Cilic beats RamK 64 63. Decent fight by RamK against a top 10 player. He served and volleyed really well and backhand was not that bad. He needs to keep this intensity next week at AO qualies and he can do some damage there.

Re: Tata Open Maharashtra 2018
Sad that the Indian challenge in singles has ended today. And as luck would have it, my Singapore cable channel is going to start telecasting from Pune tomorrow (just as I am off to Hong Kong for the next two days ).
Very disappointing show from the top 3 Indians, particularly Yuki and Sumit -- who missed a golden opportunity to take their careers forward. Yuki's loss was especially unfortunate, because these opportunities will not come too often in future for a 25-year-old.
Too much was required of RamK against the Wimbledon finalist and world #6. Good to hear that his backhand has improved significantly.
