This is a forum where users can follow various tournaments that have Indian participation or are held in India. GrandSlams and Davis Cup should also be discussed here.

With the Entire Davis Cup Team along with the reserves in full attendance in Pune , Davis Cup Captain Bhupathi absence is intriguing when at a time as a Captain he should be taking stock of the situation, sizing up the players and reserves , Barring a fleeting appearance during Sumit's match he has been conspicuous by his absence in Pune
Is there any link due to these recent developments
I have also spotted him during the Yuki vs. Arjun match...
Frankly its an amazing achievement for Mahesh to have executed it even if it was for only couple of years. On the top of that, even when the event was not viable, he was able to handle the shutdown in a very smooth way. Even before, thanks to him, I had my first real view into Tennis thanks to his WTA Hyd Open.
I wish the Indian media does more to look at the positive impact that someone has created than probing for headlines. If he didn't turn up, the fact that he is actually helping our top youngsters/davis cuppers (directly / indirectly) and even the likes Vishnu/Sriram (and obviously following their progress) is way more than him being physically there.
Simon has made the singles final by beating Cilic in a 3-set semifinal. Let’s hope that makes him too tired and demotivated for the doubles SF. Still on serve, Divij/Yuki serving at 4-5 in the first set.

Yes, close loss for Divij/Yuki but it seems like they were behind most of the match. They only converted 1 out of 11 breakpoints in the match versus 2 out of 6 by their opponents, so they had their chances but couldn't close the deal.
33 year old Giles Simon went on to win the singles title beating second seed Kevin Anderson in the final. He beat the top 3 seeds here and so fully deserved the title.
Doubles title went to second seeds Hasse and Middlekoop who were almost beaten in the first round by Arjun Kadhe and Benoit Paire.
It seems the stadium was full for the final. Overall it seemed a lot better crowd response for this tournament than in Chennai. I heard that ticket prices were reasonable which was one of the reasons for better crowd response.
