Good win but another tough one in the next round. Let's hope Willis's serve is having an off day.

Live on the ATP feed. 6-6 in the 1st set.

7-6(4) a df at 3-3 and a volley into the net at 6-4 give us the set

Leander Paes/Purav "The" Raja def Ruan Roelofse/Joe Sailsbury 7-6(4), 6-3

Great match by our guys. Flawless, aggressive tennis that didn't give the other guys a look in.

Just as some here began to call for LP to retire (why?), he takes his new partner to a Challenger doubles final...

With that win the king of the east will be getting back to around #62. If he wins the final, he will get back to #60. It is important for him to move his ranking up into the top-50. As it is for Leander.

7-6(4) 43 on serve in the second, after a trade of breaks to 0-2 and 2-2.

Wow, 3 match points saved by the other guys from 15-40 at 6-5 to send it to an TB (one mistake from LP but 2 good points from the other guys)

Okay, our guys went up two minis to 5-1, gave one back and won it on their 5th match point with a winner from LP. 76(4) 76(4). Congrats!!

I was glad to see a superb dive shot from Leander, after a long time (man, at age 44, he is still doing that!) at one of the championship points. Purav had such a steady game. He may have made just 2 or 3 mistakes in the whole match, except for 3 double faults. LP had three aces. He seems to hit the ball harder these days than he used to. But LP was mistake-prone here and there. Anyway, pretty good quality doubles on display in the match.

Didn't play as well as they did in the semi but that's understandable considering the pressure of the final and the better quality opponents. Our guys played really well on the break points against but otherwise it was a close match as the score suggests. Purav's net play was excellent and he seemed to get into the head of the opponents with his put aways and towards the end of the match his returns were outstanding. The one to get a break for 6-5 in the 2nd set will live in the memory as it was a superb serve down the middle but Purav hit a screamer back. All in my living room were shouting after that return. Leander's volleys were excellent and he was diving around like a man in his 20's. Serves were very good. Only downside was probably a few missed forehands but that would be nit picking.

Overall an excellent win. Let's hope this pair get into the ATP tournaments soon because that's where they belong.
