Dreadful is the word! Utterly shameful loss for Prajnesh, to a player who has failed to qualify for Futures in his last two tournaments.
For the India #3 to lose to a player who has never been ranked in the top 1000 as either a pro or a junior is simply a disgrace. Joyce is a pretty mediocre college player, focusing mainly on doubles (where he has a top ranking of 25 in US college tennis). His best college singles win is over the #55. :puke:

RamK's R1 match is live on ATP challenger page. With 1 break of serve, RamK was serving for the set at 5-4. But, he played a poor service game with 2 double faults to get broken for 5-5.

Broke again for 6-5. But, got broken back after a long game. Into tie break. Just rushing to the net on every first and second serve is not going to work. Opponent is pretty good and is passing him on the second serve net approaches.

Phew, missed 2 set points at 6-4 but finally opponent double faulted to give RamK the set 76(7).

RamK did not play well there, too many double faults, got broken twice serving for the set but somehow managed to win the set.

Yuki wins the hard fought first set 6-4.
He broke Hernandez in the very first game and saved 7 break points to win the set.
Hope it's bit easier in the second set..

Lost second set after being in control and serving for the set.
In tie breaker too, Yuki was up 5-2 but lost 5 points in a row to lose the set. Looks tired now. Fingers crossed for the third set.

Well, it was easier for most part of second until Yuki dug himself into a hole. He had broken Hernadez-Fernandez early in the set and was serving at 4-3. Until that point, things were smooth and games were relatively quicker (7 games at that point in set-2 took just a little over 20 minutes as opposed to the 10 games in set-1 that took almost an hour). He capitalized on the lone break-point he created, and didn't face a single break-point on his serve in set-2 until then. Had he held serve in game 8, he would have gone up 5-3 and his opponent would have been under pressure to hold serve to stay in the match. Instead, Yuki got duly broken! He recovered well enough to break again and serve for the match at 6-5. This game was fought tooth and nail (I only followed scores, so take my story with a pinch of salt :p) with many deuces. Eventually Yuki got broken forcing himself into a TB which he lost at 5. I was looking at the positive side and was thinking that he will be at an advantage serving first in set-3, which will at least save him playing catchup (he started the first 2 sets receiving). Lo and behold, he got broken in the opening game! Even though I am not 100% sure of his fitness levels, I am hoping that he has enough left in his tank to turn things around since he competed at a very high level for 4 sets against Shapovalov, As of now, he is serving in game-3, trailing 0-2.

If he is not fit to play a "practice" match, he should consider an alternate profession. Come on, Samarth...you really think playing that extra match broke him?

Saw parts of the second set through to the tie breaker. It was a very sloppy game from both sides with Yuki (and his opponent) making unforced errors with very few winners. Clearly, Yuki didn't want a battle in the 2nd set so was likely dealing with something which must have caused him to retire in the 3rd set

Not even slightly surprised. And we want to rely on this guy to play two singles ties in a DC?

This tournament marks the very first time in Yuki's career in which he has gone 12 months without a break for injury. As we know, the consequence is that he has had numerous minor niggles over the past 3 months. The lesson for all aspiring Indian tennis players is that they should learn from Leander Paes that the most important aspect of a tennis career is fitness. Focus on that early, laser-like!
