KU seems to be faring much better compared to the HKG ITF. He is just like Sanam, plays fearless against higher ranked players and succumbs often to the lower ranked ones.Only if he can correct that and be consistent. :-(

Good to see Karunuday pull off an upset win, and do so with ease. Lack of consistency is his bane, but it is always nice when he pulls off these victories over higher ranked players.

Expected win for Prajnesh in straight sets, but decent fight by Vishnu considering Prajnesh's current form ... Next, he is facing Zhe Li, who defeated KU in the quarters.

[QF] (3) Prajnesh GUNNESWARAN (IND,259) bt (6) Vishnu VARDHAN (IND,429) 75 64
[QF] Karunuday SINGH (IND,806) l (2) Zhe LI (CHN,253) 16 57

[SF] (3) Prajnesh GUNNESWARAN (IND,259) vs (2) Zhe LI (CHN,253)

Another good chance for Prajnesh to win this Futures and slowly inch towards being the Indian # 2 as the guy who could really really test him Di Wu is out of the tournament , but first he would have to take care of Zhe Li today.

Hope after this Prajnesh moves in more higher level of play and should stop playing futures as this rise in rankings and points that he has accumulated now is primarily due to vulturing the Futures and nothing much significant elsewhere.

True, Prajnesh is 3-8 at challenger level of which 2 wins were at a weaker challenger in Fergana. He needs to start going deep in challengers to maintain that ranking and go higher. But, at least he beginning to dominate higher level futures even outside India which is a good indication that he will do well at challenger level too soon.

Prajnesh is in the position of winning back to back futures title in China ... In the semis, he defeated similar ranked Chinese Zhe Li in straight sets ... After losing the first set Zhe gave a fighting performance in the second but Prajnesh won the long tie-break on extra points ... In the final, he is facing unseeded Chinese Zhizhen Zhang.

At $25K China F11 Futures 2017, Shenzhen

[SF] (3) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,259) bt (2) Zhe Li (CHN,253) 63 76(9)

[F] (3) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,259) vs Zhizhen Zhang (CHN,716)

This effectively takes Prajnesh to the same position in the rankings as Yuki (211), and a title win tomorrow will make him India #2 when these points go into the computer Monday after next. Prajnesh has demonstrated how far one can go as a purely Futures player, but he now needs to start playing regularly on the Challenger tour.

Duckhee is the epitome of that, of how far you can go playing futures and smaller Asian challengers. I don't mind Prajnesh pushing his ranking up a bit further by vulturing those.

It will get him to the stage where he can afford a traveling coach potentially.

Where did you get it from ..
Since over past 1 year Duck He lee hasn't played a single Futures tournament , He has given up playing Futures

Duck He Lee is only 19 , when you are 17 , 18 you do have play a lot of futures where as Prajnesh will be 28 in few months and has played a lot of Futures this year alone and it does not look it will stop any time soon,

But finally it is his choice if he wants to maintain his ranking by vulturing and keep bullying lower ranked players in Futures tournament and keep scoring Phyric victories .

But no Davis Cup Captain would to have such a player in a team with an artificial high ranking and deserving youngsters like Sumit should be preferred over Prajnesh.

Duckhee hasn't given up on playing futures, he is just not allowed to after "vulturing" to a top 150 ranking almost a year back. He did play a lot of them when he was ranked between 150-250.

I am not sure what you are arguing about either, what I wrote was factual in that Duckhee got himself to a top 200 ranking by vulturing futures and weaker Challengers in Korea and China.

Prajnesh has never even played a GS qualifying.

If he can get to a top 150 ranking by "vulturing" and play GS qualies and maybe even qualify into one, more power to him. That would be a stellar career.

To be fair to Prajnesh , he did play 8 weeks of challengers since last davis cup match. Unfortunately, he did not have much success and I would not blame him in coming back to play some higher level futures in Asia to secure his ranking. At least this ensures that he will play his first grand slam qualies at US open. Hopefully, he will succeed at challenger level soon

At $25,000 China F11 Futures, Shenzhen, China

[F] (3) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,259) l. Zhizhen Zhang (CHN,716) 6-2 5-7 0-6

He was serving for the match at 5-4 and didn't win a single game from there. In the 3rd set his first serve percentage was ridiculously high exactly 100%
