ATP Grass season 2017-w/c 15/7 Newport HOF
The grass season begins with the Surbiton Challenger in the upcoming week. Yuki Bhambri will be playing singles with his PR, and Ankita Raina is in the final round of singles qualifying. DiPu are the defending doubles champions, so it'll be interesting to see whether or not they will come out to defend that title.

Re: ATP Grass season 2017
DiPu should play here because with the rain today it will still be qualifying on Monday so doubles might not start till Wed.
By the way, why use PR for this without any warm up? Would have made more sense to me to play the qualifying.
As posted by Sameer in the player thread:
Mens draw is out. Tough, tough tournament. http://www.protennislive.com/posting/2017/7297/mds.pdf
Yuki gets 19 yo, ranked 131 in the world Duckhee Lee (KOR) in R1

Dayana was a junior Wimbledon finalist last year. So, it is a tough match for Ankita in her effort to qualify for this big challenger.

Re: ATP Grass season 2017
Incredibly tough tournament, but thankfully the prize money is meaningful too (Euro 127,000). The eighth seed is ranked 94!
Yuki has a tough R1, but not unwinnable. The potential R2 opponent is tougher -- grass ace Dustin Brown (who must first overcome Polansky, the guy who beat Yuki at Roland Garros).
Yuki has no option but to use his PR now, as his period for using his protected ranking runs out in the next couple of weeks.

Not expecting much from yuki on grass season. But he should be able to win a few rounds.

Re: ATP Grass season 2017
No DiPu in the doubles but we do have:
Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan/Dustin Brown vs Ken & Neal Skupski
Aisam and Marcus Daniell are top seeds and potential R2 opponents for Jeevan.
There are tough tournaments and then there is this one.

Pretty astonishing coup by Jeevan to get Dustin Brown as his partner on grass.

After losing the second set, Jeevan-Dustin saved a match point at 8-9 before converting their first match point ... Good win against big serving Skupski brothers.

Re: ATP Grass season 2017 - Surbiton 3/6-11/6
Good win over tough pair. I remember DiPu beating this pair in last year's final in this challenger in a close match. Good to see that that DiPu have moved ahead to a higher level while Skupskis are still here.
If the weather was dry why did they cancel today's singles matches ? Now there is not even 1 singles match played till Thursday

Fantastic to log on and read they won. Great win against a tough Brit pair on their home turf. Aisam/Daniell came back to win in STB so sets up another tough match on the 2R.
Unfortunately
[R1] Ankita Raina (IND)/ Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) lost to Anna Blinkova (RUS)/ Alla Kudryavtseva (RUS) 4-6, 5-7
