If anyone is thinking of travelling to watch qualifying you need to read the below. You can't just turn up and watch anymore.

Wimbledon qualifying entry list came out and the initial cut off is 231. Yuki with his ranking of 245 is 14 out from main draw. RamK is way out.

8 main draw wild cards still to be given out most of which will go those in qualies entry list. So, he will still need about 7-8 more withdrawals from main draw/ qualies entry list to get in. In the French open, qualies cut dropped 11 places from the original cut. So, it will be touch and go for Yuki.

Yuki clearly should have played in Samarkand. Even winning one round would have helped, and he would have got some clay-court match-practice too (before the FO qualifiers). When will his scheduling become a bit more logical? :damn:

Wouldn't be a Wimbledon qualies if we weren't on tenterhooks for the cut-off. A sign of not much progress.

I'm assuming Yuki was not able to use his protective ranking to get into Wimbledon qualies?

No, he should have waited at least one more week before returning last September in order to be eligible to use his PR for Wimbledon qualifying. Yuki is still 10 out of the qualifying draw, and just two Brits are ahead of him (likely to get main draw wildcards), so he is still 8 slots short of getting in. Chances look very slim indeed.

With 4 of the main draw wild cards going to those who were in qualies entry list ,Yuki is now 6 out from qualies draw of Wimbledon. 3 of the main draw wild cards are still to be given. Most probably they will go to those in qualies entry list. That will leave Yuki need 3 more withdrawals to get into qualies draw. Looks tough but possible.

Yuki is 5 out with 3 MD WCs and 2 qualifying WCs still to be allocated (or to be dispensed away and everyone moving up spots).

Yuki must be praying that the two finalists in Ilkley are players who are already in the qualifying or main draw.

I don't think he should have withdrawn from Antalya qualifiers. He is still 5 out of the qualifying draw for Wimbledon. A couple of places are reserved for the winners of the Challengers, but Dudi Sela (who won one of them in Nottingham, beating Fabbiano) got in on his own (as he was at the top of the list of alternates for the main draw), so Fabbiano might get that one (if they are fair). And if the finalists at Ilkley both get a wildcard, that opens up two more slots. But Yuki would still be two out. I think he should have played at Antalya: if he had qualified in, it would still be worthwhile playing the main draw there than just squeezing into the Wimbledon qualifiers; if he had lost in the qualifying at Antalya, he could still have flown back to London, and played the qualifiers (if he did squeeze in).
Of course, the best would be if he is somehow handed one of the remaining wildcards to the qualifying draw!

Basically, the only way Yuki gets in is that all the five remaining qualifying and main draw wildcards go to players ranked above him in the list at the moment -- rather than to random British players ranked in the 400-700 range (remember one such player did rather well last year, Marcus Willis, who made it into qualifying after winning a pre-qualifying tournament, then made R2 where he lost to Federer). His chances are hanging by a very thin thread (although the thread is not imaginary). If somebody withdraws from the main draw or qualifying draw through injury in the next couple of days, his chances brighten.

Marcus Willis, by the way, didn't do much with his fame and points from Wimbledon last year. Still ranked only 387 but received a qualifying wildcard this year.

The chances of the two remaining qualifying wildcards not going to Britishers seems quite low. If they don't go to Britishers, may be Yuki and the other guy ranked just above them will get them (since they are the ones just outside the ones getting in). But this is a remote possibility (unless he has been informed otherwise).

Why has Yuki withdrawn from the Antalya qualies? No way he's getting in at Wimby!
