Nandini lost in Q2.

Q1
Avika SAGWAL (IND) BYE
Isha BUDWAL (IND) 6-4 7-5 Natalia KOMAR (POL)
Nandini SHARMA (IND) 1-6 7-6(3) 6-1 Chanikarn SILAKUL (THA)

Q2

Yeong Won JEONG (KOR) [11] 6-0 6-1 Avika SAGWAL (IND)
Se-Hyun KIM (KOR) [6] 6-2 6-1 Isha BUDWAL (IND)
Tamachan MOMKOONTHOD (THA) [8] 6-2 6-3 Nandini SHARMA (IND)

Unfortunately, Nandini got into one of the tougher qualifying draws here in Egypt. Early in the year, most of the qualifying draws here were very weak. So, Nandini still remains in search for ranking. :-(

She is surely taking a very tough route to make it into the WTA rankings...

Nandini keeps getting unlucky - this week she managed to qualify for MD only to draw the top seed of the tournament :damn:

At $15K Sharm El Sheikh, EGY

QR1 Nandini SHARMA (IND) 6-0 6-2 Alisa GRACHOVA (UKR)
FQR Nandini SHARMA (IND) 6-3 6-4 Pauline COURCOUX (FRA)

Main Draw R1

[Q] Nandini SHARMA (UNR) vs [1] Gabriella TAYLOR (GBR,334)
[WC] Isha BUDWAL (UNR) vs Jelena STOJANOVIC (AUS,833)
Dhruthi TATACHAR VENUGOPAL (749) vs [6] Clemence FAYOL (FRA,607)

Yes, Nandini is just not getting a break to just get into rankings. :D She would have thought that these Egypt tournaments would be easy ( as it has been for many Indian players) but she is getting the toughest of draws in first round itself).

Both Dhruthi and Isha lose their R1 matches.
Nandini's match against the top seed Gabriella is currently on. It has been a crazy start to this match since the beginning with both players breaking each other's game twice. It is 2-3 now, Nandini on serve.

Not a bad scoreline against a top 350 player for Nandini. Again she showed that she plays at 400-500 ranking level. Needs some luck to get an easier draw and get the rankings. Next week she is in the alternates list of Indore ITF but way down from qualifying too as she does not have a Indian national ranking. I hope she is at least given a qualifying wild card to play there.

I have never seen a player that is playing quite well (probably at at least a top-750 level) having this much trouble for this long to even crack into the rankings. Talk about taking the hard way. She will just have to somehow come through the Indian events' qualies.
