Re: AITA Fenesta Nationals
Vatsal, Nitin already thru to the final of under 18 with a 62 60 win over Dakshineshwar Suresh. I expected that to be a tough match for him.

Yeah just came across that result. Even I didn't expect it to be that one-sided.sameerph wrote:Vatsal, Nitin already thru to the final of under 18 with a 62 60 win over Dakshineshwar Suresh. I expected that to be a tough match for him.

Re: AITA Fenesta Nationals
These are the full semi final results -
Mens singles -
(1) Vishnu Vardhan d. (5) Kunal Anand 63 61
(7) Siddharth Vishwakarma d. Haadin Bava 63 63
Womens Singles -
(8) Eetee Maheta d. Pranjala Yadlapalli 64 63
(3) Riya Bhatia d. Sharrmadaa Baluu 63 57 76(5)
Boys under 18 singles -
(3) Nitin Kumar Sinha d. (12) Suresh Dakshineshwar 62 60
(2) Dhruv Sunish d. Paramveer Singh 64 64
Girls under 18 singles -
(4) Akanksha Bhan d. Lalita Devarakonda 62 61
(3) Humera Shaik d. Sai Dedeepya 46 63 62
Pranjala lost to Eetee which is a surprising result. So, she could not even achieve what she might have played the nationals for ( good prize money). She should have continued in Thailand.
Among men, this guy Siddharth Vishwakarma is suddenly beginning to show some real good results out of nowhere.

Re: AITA Fenesta Nationals
2 junior titles decided.
Boys under 18 singles -
[F] (3) Nitin Kumar Sinha d. (2) Dhruv Sunish 63 64
Girls under 18 singles -
[F] (4) Akanksha Bhan d. (3) Humera Shaik 60 62
Both these players seem to have dominated the field. They come from states - West Bengal and Gujarat which have not really been that good in tennis in last few years at least. Good to see new players emerging from there. West Bengal seems to have a lone warrior in Nitin but Gujarat seems to have talent coming across in the under 14/16/18 age group .

Re: AITA Fenesta Nationals
Not really, Sameer. There are quite a few others from Bengal. Sanil Jagtiani & Ishaque Eqbal(both ITF top 300) are from Kolkata. Also, Vikash Singh, the kid we talked about a few days earlier, is from Kolkata too.

Re: AITA Fenesta Nationals
Ok, thanks Vatsal. I was looking at big title winners or in top 3 in their age group. From Gujarat we have Zeel Desai, Vaidehi Choudhari and Akansha Bhan all within top 3 or so in their age group and top 2 in boys under 14 group.

Womens Singles -
[F] (3) Riya Bhatia d. (8) Eetee Maheta 76(7) 63
Vishnu continues to dominate almost every tournament held in India. But, good for Riya win a national title at 19. The prize money ( Rs. 3 lakhs) should also help her fund a few trips abroad for tournaments.

Re: AITA Fenesta Nationals
Nitin needs to come out of his Indian cocoon and play more ITF tournaments, preferably a few outside India too.
