Somdev seems to be playing well but missing too many break points.

Not well enough. Goes down 4-6 in the 3rd. Overall, a disappointing effort by Somdev.

The bright side is he can now get back to playing on his favorite surface, hard courts!

the mixed doubles draw is very very tough...with teams like huber/b bryan,shvedova/mirnyi,chan/nestor,petrova/knowles,shaughnessy/ram,sebotnik/nestor...and host of dangerous unseeded teams...gajdosova/hanley,stosur/mike,dellacqua/lipsky,stubbs/melo.....seems like all the top twenty doubles player playing....sania not fit enough....cara coming back from injury...so dnt know what to expect mirza/bopanna,black/paes...but bhupathi/vesnina can do some damage and have a chance...fingers crossed....

Its always very tough and comes down to some luck. I find it incredible that Paes/Black have won so many grand slams together! I am sure that they can still fire and be consistent. Bhupathi has won his last few slams with glamourous ladies like Hingis, Hantuchova and Sania . So Vesnina will surely inspire him!! Sania won quite easily today. But they may play Kirlenko/Andreev in their 1st match (rd 2) who had beaten Sania/Mahesh at Wimbledon 2008 rd 2! Of course Sania was just making her comeback then from the wrist surgery. I still believe the mixed doubles will come to India!!! to all 3 of them.

Really strange that the Bryans, who were supposed to play on wednesday, are yet to be alloted a court for their rd 1 doubles match even though Sania/Elena has to play 2 days in a row.

Good thing that Sania isn't defending anything in single for the rest of the year...She will probably be #59 in singles even after Wimbledon, which gives her a great chance to be in top 40 with a great run here and there .

Razzano is a good player. I'm not going by the score line. No way Sania can overpower Razzano. Powerful FH like Sania but more consistent and with more precision. Sania got a bad draw.

Now coming to doubles, i was not quite impressed with their doubles performance yesterday. Today they are facing a tricky opponent. Possibility of a Bopanna like upset cant be rulled out.They have to be cautious.

They did bagel in the first set. And then there was a rain delay. It can break the momentum sometimes. Maybe that's why they could not maintain the kinda dominance they were having till 6-0 2-1.
