Goodness me what is her plan...........horrible fitness and no chance whatsoever in any form of the game.

I dont know what you mean by "horrible fitness", with this fitness she is able to play and match the experienced Aussies. Because, in doubles fitness can be compromised to some extent. Our team has not lost by straight sets or gave away easy victory... They fought till the end with the top seeded pair and that means she did play well along with Bofors.

I do not think Niru should have been entered in these games. I usually support older sportsmen, but in this case, it is a great disservice to the younger players who are not much worse than Niru these days. Maybe this is a case where an old-school "trials" would have been handy to determine how Niru is playing and her fitness.

Yes, MC's edited out comment is quite uncalled for. In fact they gave a close fight to the top seeds in mixed doubles.

Other results for the day -

Womens singles -

[R1] Chakravarthi Rushmi (IND) d. Montlha Pinki Agnes (LES) 60 61
[R1] Venkatesha Poojashree (IND) d. Nqosa Nthabiseng Eunicia (LES) 60 60

Mixed doubles -

[R1] Leander Paes / Sania Mirza (IND) d. S.N. ROHEMAN / A. RICHELIEU (LCA) 61 60

Tomorrow, both Somi in mens singles & Lee/ Hesh in doubles start their campaign. Also, Nirupama & Poojashree play their R1 doubles match.

Well done Somdev...........

Off Track from CMG - Milos Raonic (Canada) has become the first player in 2010 to clock 100 aces in less than 10 matches - He has hit 100 aces in 9 of his matches including today's.......the new GORAN IVANASEVIC of Tennis

Actually I had the same thought seeing that scoreline. How the heck did those two guys take 6 games off LP-MB. Rather mind-boggling... Jay

Somdev, Sania , Rohan all play their R2 matches tomorrow.

Rohan has a tough match against second seed Aussie Peter Luzak. I sense an upset here.

I saw the match. Those lankans are sooooooo brave they dont even think lyk they re playing against one of the greatest players in the world.

Both of them are so so amazing with their aces ,challenging the calls at right times which actually brought them some correct points. If properly nurtured they will for sure make their country proud.
