2 very comfortable wins by our girls. But, now the real test starts. Next match against Korea is very important from qualification viewpoint. If we win this, we are likely to meet Thailand in the SF and if we lose we are likely to meet Australia in the QF which will be much tougher.

Much like us Korea has romped thru their first 2 matches against Uzbekistan/Sri Lanka. So, I guess it will be a close match will hinge on a few games/points.

We were lucky as Korean pair retired from the doubles match but other hand I m thinking they deliberately tanked this match to avoid playing 2nd seed Aussie girls in the quarters ... In Group B, 8th seed Thailand scored upset win over 2nd seed Australia ... So our girls meeting 2nd seed Aussie girls for qualifying for World group and 7th seed Korea is facing 8th seed Thailand girls ... Interestingly 3rd seed Taipei lost their match against 5th seed Chinese girls ... So 3rd seed Taipei girls r facing top-seed Japanese girls in other quarter-final.

In our match Mahak gave winning start for us after beating Korean Eunhye Lee in three sets ... But Korean top player Sohyun Park defeated our top player Sathwika Sama in straight sets ... In the doubles Korean pair retired after playing five games.

Yes, that looks like the case. They should really be penalised for this if that is true.

Anyway, now we have a tougher task of beating second seeds Australia if we have to qualify for world group. Our boys achieved this by beating Australia last week. Now, let see if our girls can do the same.

Did not really matter as we beat the Aussie team 2-0 to qualify, on the other hand Korean team got beaten by Thaliand...with this we qualify for the World Group play offs to be held in Budapest from Sep 27 to Oct 2 (u 16)

That is great news. I think after many years we are seeing both the boys and girls under 16 teams have made it to the world group.

Our girls r finished on third place after beating New Zealand girls ... In the first single Mahak won it comfortably losing only 2 games ... In the second singles Sathwika faced tough challenge from Ivanov but she came through in three sets ... Other hand top-seed Japanese girls win the title comfortably beating Thai girls.

Very pleasing performances by the girls, especially beating Australia and then taking the bronze in style. Our junior tennis pipeline is looking good on both the boys and girls side. Nice!

This week Asia Oceania qualifying for boys under 14 is underway in Bangkong, Thailand. We have a tough draw as we are in same group (D) as Australia.

We started with an easy win.

Going by those results and the score lines of our players , I think there is a fair chance that we will win tomorrow against Australia. But, even if we do not we need to only win 1 match against them to make sure that we top the group and get an easier QF.
