Wow, my jaw dropped as I was going down the names -- this is one TOUGH $10K!

...And one other big name hiding toward the bottom is Tara Iyer, who has no success on the tour in the States. Guess she realized it's time to try something new. Too bad she picked such a ridiculously good $10K though!

Oh, I had not seen Tara's name in there .. Time she came to India for some events .. It's been quite a while since she played there.

Meghaa withdrew this tuesday (she also withdrew from the Mumbai challenger which had her name at first).. That is a pity. Hope she is OK.

An interesting (potential) QF match between Isha and Sanaa in the offing. Lets see
if qualifier Vandana Murali can take out Thaasha (sorry, jiro). I can't see anyone
beating Akgul in the top half.

Great win by Sanaa ... Both sisters ranking difference r almost 300 places (Ankita's 422 and Sanaa's 714) ... Right now Sanna is tremendous form ... The way she demolished her own sis is mind blowing ... Ya Suresh right now it looks difficult to find Akgul Amanmuradova match ... Hope some one rises for the occassion.

That would be fine and I don't think Thassha can win if Iyer is on.

The better will win.

Updated the scores from Tuesday in the draw above ..

Damn .. It took a long time to find the Tuesday results. Finally had to go looking for Marathi newespapers from Pune .. Can one of you who knows Marathi check if I read the scores correctly from http://www.esakal.com/today/krida10.html (that link may go away later today)

Anyway, GK Shwetha took out Archana and Wilawan took out Sai -- neither surprised me much. Big win for GKS though! Punam's win over Arthi also looks good. (Assuming I got all those scores correct!) .. I think Thassha beat Tara -- I badly wanted Tara to win :(

Thanks Jay.

I watched Tara play in JR G1 in Pattaya this year, she is talented and good looking player.

Lucky that Thassha and Wilawan can move into second round.

Tara has been injured for several months this year (some sort of knee problem) but seems to be just beginning to play well again .. This was a good match it seems - Thassha is a tough player.

Jay ur understanding of Marathis is good ... :D May be interacting with Harsh horn ur skill ... ;) Joke a part all scores r perfectly written.

I watched match Tara played with Thassha ... Both players played very entertaining tennis ... Thassha won crucial points, I think Tara's inexperianced matter in the end ... But yes this gal having tremendous potential to shine ... I also watched Radhika Tulpule's match (Offcourse she is our local gal ... ;)), she is coming back from injury ... So we all were very much interested in her performance ... And she played very consistent tennis, still some rustiness in her game ... But she doesn't loose her fighting spirit in injury lay off ... That was heartening scene ... But day's most entertaining match was in between Shweta and Archana ... It was lovely to see how this little teenager playing so much flowing tennis against seasoned Archana ... May be many forum members think second set 6 - 1 score against Shweta was one sided score ... No guys that wasn't truth ... We all literaly glued to sit in that set ... This set was only 7 games long, but in average every single game lasted almost 10 mins ... How Shweta fought ... Only Amazing ... She ran for every point all over the court and in that process she made sure Archana also ran everywhere ... Still after loosing that second set, we all were sure Shweta will win this match ... Becoz at that time Archana was panting and Shweta was cool ... Like knowing she did the damage to Archana to win this match ... Amazing stuff guys ... After watching this match another entry added to my favourite list ... :)

Has Shwetha improved on her physique? From what you write, it looks like she has. A year back when I saw her pictures (and based on a couple of press comments) she had to drop a little weight but otherwise had all the ingredients to do well. Looks like she has done the work? ... If so, great. She may be among the most talented names to emerge in the last 18 months or so when our production of new names appeared not as great as in the two years prior.
