Question about chat. Please read.

Post by Dhruv »

Hi guys,

For those of you that remember the old flash based chat that we had, how many of you prefer that one to the current chat. It looks like the old chat has npw been updated and could possibly handle a larger number of users. If you think the older chat worked well let me know and I can replace this one for the old one.

If the old chat doesn't work or was not a favourite for you then let me know as well and I'll drop the idea.

Thanks,

Dhruv

i dont quite remember the old chat well enough, but i think it wasnt that great to bring it back. the current one seems fine, i guess we should stick with this one unless something better comes up.

Ok. I was PM'ed about what the old chat looked like so I have added a link to it on the usermenu (left hand side). that should take you to the chat.

Let me know which works better.

Hi Dhruv,

The new java based chat doesn't work for me -- I get an error and unable to login. I use
Firefox 1.5 (on Linux). However, the flash based one works.

Hmm not many votes so far. Should I take that to mean indifference.

Dhruv,

I have not used the Chat for more than a year. Then last week I tried to chat and could do that from my office PC. But when I use my laptop at home I don't see the "chatroom" link at all.

I finally had to remote into my office PC to be able to use the chat. Both machines I use Firefox 2.0 to browse the site.

What could cause the "chatroom" link not to show on my laptop? I confirmed it last night and even now I don't see the chatroom link on my laptop but can see it perfectly well on my office pc (writing this from my office pc).

Thanks
Sanjay
