I was having this discussion with couple of my friends and we realized how little we know about the Open Era, rivalry between WCT and Grand Prix, subsequent amalgamation and formation of ATP. I read about it in Wikipedia and I know I am asking for 100 years of history, but it would be great if someone took time off and explain the part of history between 1968 (Open Era started) and 1990 (Formation of ATP).
Also if someone can provide links it would be equally grateful.
If the time period looks too long lets start by asking why did the Open Era start?
