Ah, OK, then the Dimitrov-CarrenoBusta match is truly academic.

So Goffin with wins against Nadal and Federer to reach the year-end finals. Hopefully Dimitrov can join him there.

Wow, what a brilliant final at the WTF. Started of wanting Dimitrov to win but Goffin won me over with his play. I would go so far as to say he was the better player. His ability to hit in the V was astounding. Unfortunate he missed that volley on that final point. Had he won that point I think he would have gone on to break back and then would have been the favourite to win.

Interesting table - top 20 players in the ATP in 2017 based on their overall combined score (serve pts won + return pts won)

The same guy has posted this about all surfaces...https://twitter.com/sportdw/status/934017041153118209

Ammunition for all Nadal fans for their GOAT argument.

More like argument for why Nadal was the best player this year despite suffering a change of fortune against Federer.

This is sort of the Federer-esque argument turned on its head for last year. Federer is the best player of all time except he finds it hard to beat Nadal (which he has rectified somewhat last year) and Djokovic. Now, last year, Nadal was the best player except that he found it hard to beat Federer. All this says is that totally dominating everything is hard in men's tennis. #Competitive.

^^^ Thanks! That link had a whole ton of stuff. It took me an hour to go through, but a great collection of twitter videos. The snake in Sri Lanka, the under-arm serve against RamK, etc. The player berating the coach in Russian was really funny.

Andy Muarray announcement - https://www.instagram.com/p/BdcSGu6lMYj ... andymurray

Doesn't sound good at all. Probably too soon to say it but could well be career ending.

What a beautiful and poignant message from Andy Murray. Makes me like him much more than I have previously!

Andy Murray and his mother have spoken out for women tennis players for some time. He is a classy bloke.

Federer goes into the AO as the odds-on favourite to defend his title. He was near-flawless in the Hopman Cup. The only aspect standing between him and another Slam title is the fragility of his body. That is something that nobody can predict about someone who will be 37 this year.

Hard to look beyond Fed and Nadal. Maybe Kyrgios as a very outside bet. Unlikely to hold up over 7 matches but if he is going to do it anywhere it will be here because of the home support.
