Indian tennis player rankings

dev varman is a good tennis-player, but he don't play....however, in the USA he can play the Univeristy circuit and the futures/satellite of the USA. He will find tournaments enough difficult.
Rastogi would have to play over India.

Somdev Dev Varman is the top-ranked freshman among US college tennis players.
Karan Rastogi will be a top-200 player by the end of the year. He was the top-ranked player in the world in his age-group when he was 13, 14 and 15.

Wow thats bold. In his interview with Kumar KR himself said 500 in the next 6-7 month. And he isn't focussing so much on the ranking right now. Remember, even our top guys HM and PA arent in the top 200 as we speak.

The ever-optimist PKB is often right than wrong.

gvhvhg, do send a note to PKB in December 2005 when Karan's ranking is around 200.

I hope Karan will not read this discussion until he reaches the top 200.

I don't know.....more player was top-ranked in their age-group, but.......

Does he play only in India? If he wants to be a top-200, must play in Europe, where the level is higer, and he plays challenger. what's his preferred surface?

Actually, I think Karan was ranked among India's top-10 in the second half of 2003 -- until he decided to focus on junior events in the second quarter of 2004. So he has now regained that India ranking, and will quickly move up much further as he has very few points to defend from last year. However, this is indeed his career-high pro ranking: in early-2004, Karan had a top-10 India ranking although he was only ranked in the 800s. Now a lot of Indian players have much more decent rankings, so the top-10 India ranking means a bit more!

Hi Anselmo, Karan has been our best junior player since Leander Paes.He reached a career high junior ranking of no. 3 when he played aus open semi final in 2004.In fact last year he played in Italy grade A junior tournament where he played doubles final and singles 3rd round. He has started playing pro circuit just few months ago.In Jan his atp rank was about 1040.In just three months his ranking has jumped to around 650 i.e. a jump of almost 400 nos.As he has no points to defend,he can improve his ranking very fast, the way he has been playing recently.PKB may not be off mark in his prediction. But Karan has a long way to go.

He plays with hand Giuseppe :D . Just joking. As Kiran mentioned he is teh best junior we have got since Leander. He is a baseline player with pretty solid ground strokes.
