Unfortunately, Karun was the first one out of the race today! Hope he is okay. :(
Lap1   KARUN CHANDHOK IS SPUN ACROSS THE FIELD AS THEY START! HOW DOES HE MISS EVERYBODY ELSE? He hits the barriers hard.
While his team mate Garcia finished the race in 5th place for Team Durango. Glock came in second despite his amazing qualifying time. The first race was won by B. Senna (any relation to the famous one?).

cheers

Added:  Bruno Senna is a Brazilian racecar driver and the nephew of three-time Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna.  When leaving McLaren at the end of 1993, Ayrton Senna said: "If you think I'm good, just wait until you see my nephew Bruno."

When things did finally get underway, Indian Karun Chandhok put his right wheels on the grass and spun across the bows of at least five other cars, miraculously missing them all but clouting the barriers hard in his Durango car.
You can see the right rear tire blown off, in the pictures Kallu posted above. Something from the grassy patch of land, messed up his tires?!

i think the tyres were smashed when he hit the Barrier...the spin was probably caused by the grass being slippery !!

what encourages me is that he is starting to qualify within the top 10 out of 25+ straightaway.  :D after that, it is a matter of luck on where he ends up in the race. this being his first few races in GP2, here's hoping that he inches towards the top 5 and really makes a mark in the later part of the season !!!

Looks like Karun was wrecked by Andy Soucek early in the race. There is no race 2 in Monaco tomorrow.
