Re: Karun Chandhok thread..
Karun WON the sprint race today at Spa. He also finished in the points in the earlier race. Karun seems to be having better luck and results as the season comes closer to the end. This is the best result by an Indian racing driver ever maybe...
I wonder if Karun will stay in GP2 next year or if he will get a chance in F1. Getting results like he has in the past few races in GP2 certainly can't hurt his chances...

Quote from Karun's interview:
It is always a thrill to hear India's national anthem played at any International sporting events. Congratulations Karun!! keep it up. You have done us proud!

This weekend there’s been a lot of speculation about next year, for India as well, it’s the first time I’ve heard the national anthem at a Formula One Grand Prix, so that’s a special feeling as well. It’s been live on TV in India so everyone’s going crazy back at home.

Karun is definitely coming into his own, as a rookie on GP2. He is learning and applying what he learnt during the race. He is also taking calculated risks, which is really good.
While there may be a great chance for him to move into F1 next year, what with the Spyker team being bought out by Vijay Mallaya and others, I think it may be too early. I really don't want him to try F1 and be discarded in a year if things don't click there...
cheers

Amazing victory. I was thrilled to read this news on the paper today morning. Karun has become the first Indian ever to finish No.1 on a GP circuit. Way to go Karun.

Re: Karun Chandhok thread.. (Wins sprint race GP2 @ Spa)
I saw the race on Eurosport and Karun made a good move on the outside to take the lead. He tried some aggressive maneuvers in the first race as well, some of which came off and one almost resulted in an off. All in all some fairly aggressive driving by Karun in a series where overtaking is possible unlike Lucas di Grassi who seemed to be quite content in finishing in the points rather than try and overtake or atleast pressure the leaders...

Re: Karun Chandhok thread.. (Wins sprint race GP2 @ Spa)
Di Grassi actually seemed to be outpaced throughout the race with Karun constantly pulling away from him...and he basically blasted away in the lead after he passed Soucek.....a move around the outside at that part of the circuit....RIDICULOUS !! No wonder Alonso told him it was a nice move.....GREAT WORK !! Stunning win !!
