Race 1 ?

2. Karun Chandhok + 3.9s
3. Justin Sherwood + 14.4s
4. Steven Kane + 14.5s

Race 2 ?
1. Steven Kane 36:39.545s
2. Ernesto Viso + 3.2s
3. Ivor McCullough + 3.4s
4. Karun Chandhok + 7.8s

Championship positions -
1. Steven Kane 65 points
2. Karun Chandhok 60 points
3. Justin Sherwood 38 points
4. Ernesto Viso 35 points

The next two rounds of the championship are at Croft in Yorkshire on the 4th of May.

He is doing fairly well in the scholarship class of the british F3. Hopefully he can continue his run throughout the year and move up to the championship class next year with more sponsors rather than the smaller scholarship class where a lot of the F1 racers are picked.

Karun Chandhok thread..(driving in the Renault World Series)

Post by Dhruv »

Karun seems to be doing extremely well in the Scholarship class of the British F3 this year. Hopefully by next year he will graduate to the Championship Class of the F3 and then to bigger and better things (read F1).

The one thing holding him back is probably sponsorship. I am sure Globosport is doing a fine job of finding him sponsors on the circuit but as most of you know motor sports is probably the most expensive sport out there so let us hope for the best. From what I have read (PR releases) and what I can gather from the forums on auto racing Karun is an aggressive driver and has the drive and desire to win. Hopefully, he has better shot than Narain to get into the F1. I have pretty much written off Narain as he is getting fairly old for a F1 driver and lots of the newer drivers are in the early 20's, although he has had a few laps in F1 cars. The next couple of years are crucial for Narain after which his participation in the F1 series is really a question mark. Karun on the other hand has just started and even though he is on arguably the best team out there and so should be doing well he still has to perform and he is doing that. Hopefully he can get all the support and recognition early in his career which I think Narian lacked. It's always harder for the first ones and though they blaze a trail and set an example for all those who follow sometimes they do not get the credit they deserve. Now I am babbling so I'll end right here :)

By the way if any of you reading/visiting this site work for a company and have any sort of say in sponsorship type desicions why don't you contact Globosport and see if you can participate in sponsoring tennis, soccer, racing or anything else.

Another race and another win. :) Today in Race 1 at the Silverstone circuit Karun finished the race in 1st place over 6 seconds ahead of teammate and points leader Steven Kane. He is now in second spot in the championship and looks like is ready to move up atleast one level.

Another link to an article.

A perfect weekend for Karun, 2 pole positions and 2 wins from the races held over the weekend. It should help his confidence and also his points tally immensly after a couple of carshes the week before.

I was away for a while. Karun crashed out in the first race and finished 3rd in the 2nd race which was cut short due to an accident. He is now third in the driver standings.

Karun clawed his way back into the championship race this weekend by winning both the races over the weekend in the British F3 scholarship series. He is now back in second place in the standings and now trails team-mate and scholarship series leader Steven Kane by 11 points in the series.

Karun Chandhok thread..(driving in the Renault World Series)

Karun will start in pole position in both races today at the Rockingham race track. He qualified on pole by a 10th of a second in both races just ahead of Ernesto Viso (P1 Motorsport). His teammate and championship points leader Steven Kane will start in 3rd spot in both races.

These 3 drivers are separated by only 33 points in the championship and so this should make for an exciting finishing half of the season.

Karun Chandhok thread..(driving in the Renault World Series)

Post by Dhruv »

In yesterdays races Karun finished 1st in Race 1 and 2nd in Race 2. This means he is now leading the series on points just two (2) points ahead of teammate Steven Kane. Ernesto Viso also had a good weekend and so now the top 3 are really bunched together with 20 points separating the three.

An article here http://www.fota.co.uk/story.asp?NewsID=2348 covers the races in a little bit more detail. Also, it seems with this win Karun has become the winningest Indian drive in the F3 circuit.
