At Indonesian Sentul Circuit in 5th and 6th legs again Armaan Ebrahim impressed everyone with his superb driving ... In qualifying he was 4th fastest ... In 5th race he finished 2nd behind Aaron Lim by more than 8 secs ... But in 6th race he out perfromed everyone ... Armaan won this race by 3.2 secs from James Winslow, but what was amazing Armaan managed win while struggling with gearbox throughout the race.

Parthiva had so-so outing as in 5th race DNF and in 6th he finished on 7th place.

So after 6 rounds Armaan Ebrahim leading championship by 18 pts ... Next 2 races will be in China at Chengdu Circuit on 8th and 9th september.

interesting to see that last year's champions E-rain with current championship leader seth ingham have dissapeared and the field does look depleted now unfortunately.....on the brighter side akhil khuslani put in a good drive as well with two 4th place finishes till he was punted out of race 3 and hence unable to start race 4.....dont know what happened to parthiva but lets hope he figures it all out....

Good race for Armaan ... Congrats for winning second race.
The V6 Renault made its debut in Autopolis this year and the Chennai lad goes into the record books as the first winner of the Grand Race in the V6 in Japan.

“I am sure he will create waves in the GP2 Championship next year,” commented team manager Fabien Fior.

Armaan said - “It was a great win, and even better to win on a festival day.”

I hate to break it to you guys but i don't see how he is going to be successful in Gp2. I think if Armaan's management wants to extend his career, they should be careful with the words they often use.

I think since Karun's rise, some people are assuming that its an easy transition but forget the fact that Karun has been through Championship's (even the V6 title) with MUCH stronger competition than ebrahim has. KC is definitely the more complete or rounded package and is known to be one of the more technically sound drivers outside of F1. I think the fact that he was clocking lap times a second faster than they are THIS year in the V6 Asia C'ship speaks volumes of his credentials.

Its obviously an great achievement but i think to prevent the burn out of yet another Indian sportsman, we need to be realistic and not run before he can walk....I would like to see Armaan establish a name for himself in Europe, since its the hub of competitive motorsport and Narain and Karun have been successful there before going elsewhere....To put it into perspective, Narain had guys like Sato and Jenson against him in British F3 and Karun had Piquet junior, Carroll, Heiki i think and many others now in Gp2 as well....

Good luck to him....Lets hope he's properly groomed and not just tossed into the deep end of the pool !!

When they say GP2 series, i think they mean GP2 asian series thats starting next year. I would be very surprised if he was selected to race in the mainstream GP2. I think the asian series will be good for armaan, most of the teams are from GP2 and the driver line up wont be full strength but will have some credible drivers like Franky Cheng, Ho ping Tung.
