Sirish Chandran is planning to run a Indian car in the Le Mans in 2007. According to him A Courage LC70 will be prepared and run by Courage Competition at the Le Mans 24 hour race. The drivers are most likely to be Narain and Karun, although nothing has been signed by drivers yet.

I totally didnt see this coming !

Me neither. :-~ This comes out of the blue!
But it's only a hypotetical project initiated by the Overdrive magazine. One can only speculate if they have financial backing or they just want to raise publicity on them or on the Le Mans 24h race.

It would be fabulous indeed to get both Narain and Karun to drive the car, plus another driver (because they have to be 3 at Le Mans), maybe an experienced Le Mans racer from France.

yeah the 3rd driver is supposed to be Jean-Marc GOUNON

This probably is a publicity stunt. It sounds too good to be true. How can they run a Indian team when there is a little or no fan base for Lemans in India

Formula BMW Asia 2007

Post by kallu »

The season is scheduled to start in first week of MAY

India has two drivers
Hyderabad-born Akhil Khushlani (17/Eurasia Motorsport) is another of the five Formula BMW Asia Juniors this season. Khushlani won the National Rotax Max Challenge in 2005, and notched up five wins in Formula Rolon last season.

When the mother of Cchiranjeev R. Bedi (17/Engstler Bollywood Racing) declared her son was "born in 10 minutes and has been into speed ever since," she was right, and from the age of five he was determined to forge a career in motorsport. Having competed in the JK Tyres and Indian karting championships, he raced a car for the first time last year at the 12-hour Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race in Malaysia. Bedi is the son of Bollywood star Ranjeet D. Bedi, veteran of 560 movies and, although he has appeared in a couple of his father's films, his sights are set firmly on the world of international motorsport.

The masterstroke of combining the glamour of Bollywood, a name created by combining Bombay (now Mumbai) and Hollywood, with motor racing came about through team manager Manmohanjit Thind's involvement in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the Sepang International Circuit projects. The link-up with Engstler Motorsport of Germany was realised through the relationship of Mr. Thind with Franz Engstler & Kurt Treml, and this year the concept of Engstler Bollywood Racing becomes reality.

Armaan has put the disastrous previous rounds behind him and went on to win both the round 3 and 4.
Although i think he will have a very stiff competition from Earl bamber in next races who actually was on the pole for this round.

Creditable indeed from both Armaan and Parthiva...It will be interesting to see how it pans out with earl and ingham later since they pretty much destroyed each others chances by taking each other off....i wish there was some stronger competition in the field though....

Karl Reindler was podium finisher in the A1GP series, while James Winslow is the reigning Asian F3 champion (and the rescuer of the unfortunate Moreno Suprapto ). At least they are decent drivers. Great result from Armaan!
