So Armaan will be racing again !! It seems the team likes his feedback. Although he made a mistake, He was indeed very fast in Sepang. But that was expected since he is very familiar with the circuit. But is he a quick learner of a new circuit ??A1 Team India is looking to continue its improving performance from the last race at The Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The weekend of racing at Sepang was a good step forward for A1 Team India as the pace of the car improved significantly. For the first time since the beginning of the A1 Grand Prix season in September 2005 at Brands Hatch, A1 Team India was really close to the frontrunners in terms of pace, with the gap reducing to 3 or 4 tenths of a second. Compared to the beginning of the season when A1 Team India was 3 to 4 seconds off the front-running pace, the team has moved forward in leaps and bounds.
In Sepang, during the feature race, on sheer pace it was evident that A1 Team India had its first opportunity to score points with a finish as high up as possibly fifth place. It was an unfortunate incident that occurred which put A1 Team India out of the race, but that's racing!
The Dubai Autodrome looks to be an extremely technical track, with a lot of fast corners and a few hairpin turns, one of which has a significant banking. It will come down to the drivers braking techniques in the hairpin turns, and the handling of the car in the high speed sections of the track. The back straight is almost 1 kilometer long. It will require an immense amount of concentration from the drivers, as well an extremely good setup of the car, as there is a tremendous mix of high speed and slow speed corners. The compromise in the balance of the car so that it can handle the fast and the slow sections will play a crucial role in the overall performance over the weekend. The communication between the driver and the engineers will also be critical to a good handling car. This will allow the team to understand better how the car is handling in the different sections of the track, and therefore to setup the car to perform better.
As always, there will be three practice sessions of one hour each, two on Friday and one on Saturday. However, this weekend, there will also be two additional sessions of twenty minutes each. This has been organized especially for the teams to run in their second/spare cars, to perform system checks on those cars, and to ensure that all the thousands of complex components that make up a modern single-seater car such as the A1 Grand Prix car, are performing as per their specifications. This additional time should also help the drivers to familiarize themselves with the track, and to create a better setup for the races on Sunday.
A1 Team India has designated Armaan Ebrahim as its driver for the weekend. His performances have been steadily improving from race to race, and there has been some very positive feedback from all quarters on the teenage sensations abilities behind the wheel. The organizers, A1 Grand Prix have also for the first time, mounted on-board cameras on A1 Team India's car, after the excellent performance and the amount of interest generated after the last race in Sepang.
A1 Team India seems to have earned its wings amongst the international presence at each of the A1 Grand Prix events, with other teams and drivers taking notice of its continuous improvement in performance. The team is now looking forward to some top ten race finishes which should open our account in terms of championship points, despite the pre-season plans of finishes between 15th and 20th place for the first half of the season.

This is crazy ... Karun is a much better and more experienced driver, he should be racing for team India while Aarman should be the one making the occasional appearance.

Hi guys ..... long time.... nice to see some action on the forum again... unfortunately, it appears as though not much has changed on the ground with selfish interests still winning over the best interests of our country.... but i guess you learn to live with it....
@Kallu.... Your post appears to be the press release of the team. I think their PR team is better off writing the script for santa barbara or Bold and the beautiful. The statement that India is 3-4 tenths of a second off the pace is far from the truth. In one session, which was a lottery session (wet/dry session and i say lottery becuase, the data shows that all the teams that finished ahead of us in the session, finsihed way down and the team that was 3 seconds slower in the session was about 2.5 seconds quicker during the race) we were 6 tenths off. for the remaining sessions, we were far from 3-4 tenths off the pace and in the races we were about 2.5 seconds slower, while comparing the fastest lap times. I wonder whether the team does not have the capacity to analyse something as basic as this or whether they deliberately issue false reports, believing that if they repeat the lie often enough, it will become the truth.
I also think making 3 mistakes in the same race also shows that Armaan is not quite ready to compete, but may be a good option to drive around (and may be water the grass etc.), which even my grandma would be able to do. Only when you compete so you make mistakes, and armaan hs made his fair share (of which i think the rear ending of team pakistan) was really amateurish. Considering the fact that his technical feedback is so good, i think the team must be really poor or his driving has to be really poor to be so far off the pace.
I really think Karun deserves the drive now... I wonder whether he has been sacked (otherwise i cannot see any reason (other than not being the son of the manager) as to why he is not driving, having been quicker than Armaan on every occasion). Funnily enough, i heard that it was Karun's father that actually intorduced and guided Armaans father, Akbar. i guess there is a conflict of interest for Akbar now since Karun doing well would be the death knell for Armaan chances to raise money and/or get publicity.
I also wonder why narain is not driving.Considering the fact that at best he is going to be a test driver next year. Since representing India has played a big role in him finding a place in F1, i thought he would be proud enough to try and make his country do the best she can. In fact, for no other driver in F1, has nationality played such an important role in finding a drive.........
I just hope that for once the team can put their selfish interests aside and do what is best for the country.
I guess as usual, the Franch, Swiss teamand the Brazilian team will be quick as usual... So far as India is considered, the best that we can hope for may be a top ten finish (from the bottom of course, unless we drive at the back and hope that other cars do not finish)......

yes Armaan was more than 2sec off in sprint race but his lap times are very close to others not considering the top3....Every one was slower compared to France, brazil and Switzerland they were in their own league.
I still think armaan drove brilliantly in the sprint race he kept up with USA throughout the race and finished 11th, We should give him credit for that.
But i do think he is a slow learner of circuits. So was hoping karun races in dubai

That was an excellent race...I love A1 its getting better race by race...
I would love it even more if india are doing good ..
After the safety car in feature race armaan was blessed with 11th spot....if he had managed to hold on to that place he could have easily got some points because of other drivers misfortunes in the front. But he couldnt and dropped down the list. China had a brilliant race Jiang ket his cool and and finished the race in a well deserved 5th !!
I hope The team brings Karun for the next race .....
