As per report and Narain's comments from Silverstone, where he is currently testing William's Toyota-powered FW28, he is on verge of signing deal with Williams as a test driver in place of Alex Wurz, who will replacing Mark Webber as a race driver in season 2007.

Karthikeyan close to inking deal

Yeah, but next year's third drivers won't have the chance to shine in Friday's practice sessions, as they do for the last three years.

Narain was off the pace each time in the interim Williams-Toy but he only drove a relatively limited number of laps each time, compared to other drivers on track. Actually, not bad for the first outing of the car.

Narain has put pen to paper and signed as TEST driver for Williams for 2007.
So no racing for him next year too.
Hopefully he wil be the no. 1 test driver and get chance somewhere along the line......

The rumours about a possible F1 drive with Toro Rosso have finally been scuttled and Narain looks set to stay on with Williams as test driver ... Toro Rosso upped its demand from $7 million to 10 for a place on the grid ... It was difficult for Narain to grab seat with Vitantonio Liuzzi on a very strong contract and Scott Speed essential for F1 to make inroads into the American market.

Narain has his hands full - Article in DNA by Sukhwant Basra
DNA article wrote:It has also been learnt that his A1 performance first time around in that car has elicited an offer from him to drive in the Le Man Series by Mike Earle the owner of Arena Motorsports — the outfit that runs the Indian A1 team.

The proposed salary for the same hovers in the six-figure range. Narain is looking to do some races in the European series and the final two in the American one.

The logic in Narain’s camp now is that the more he races, the better are his chances for an F1 drive next year. Also shaking off the rust from lack of competition is essential for the Indian if he hopes to make a strong comeback in 2008. Podium finishes in A1 and Le Mans will add to his profile and get him back on the radar of those who matter.

Narain Karthikeyan sign up for a brand new Stock Car Championship starting in November 2007 ... Karthikeyan is first Asian driver to be announced his participation in this Speedcar Series ... This Championship will pit 24 identical 600bhp cars against each other on tracks across Asia and Middle East ... The series will be officially presented in Dubai in next few months.
Narain comments - I am very much looking forward to being a part of the new Speedcar Series, it is obviously very competitive, with great names such as Jean Alesi and Johnny Herbert, and it will be very exciting to pit myself against these legends of Formula One. The winter series is perfect for me as I can concentrate on Formula One, my main obligation, but also be a part of a really serious racing series that keeps me competitive and racing, my only ambition.

Speedcar series will use ex-NASCAR slightly detuned 600-bhp cars. Is Narain following Montoya's footsteps? His F1 career isn't going anywhere, that's for sure...  :(

NK could return to Formula 1 racing: he is onw of the drivers in the frame to fill in for sacked Albers at Spyker F1 (ex-Midland, ex-Jordan) team.

Or at least he could drive in the GP2 series with Spanish team Racing Engineering.
“We spoke to Narain about the possibility,” Racing Engineering team principal Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon confirmed to Crash.net.

Are you optimistic about Spyker, especially given that Narain did not get along well with Kolles, the current Head ???

Spyker or not, NK now has the chance to reestablish his name. Nobody expects him to score points or make it to the third segment of qualifying, all he has to do is to beat his team-mate Adrian Sutil. It's no easy task, especially knowing that Sutil raced Lewis Hamilton on equal terms in junior categories of single-seater racing and that he outqualified more experienced Albers seven times in nine races this year.

read that Christian Klien has been asked to test-drive  :( even though Kolles has clarified that it does not automatically mean he is going to get the race seat.

What a dream debut Markus Winkelhock had at his home Grand Prix: starting on wet tires and leading early in the race. It could have been NK in his place...
