World Rankings of "Indian" Golfers - Feb. 6, 2006
Jyoti, Arjun, Dan and Shiv are very close to each other now. Probably, we should send this ranking list to them (if they have not already noticed). Let's see who wants to top it for next year. It should give them something to work on for 2006.
I believe Shiv is going to have a good 2006. But, Arjun and Dan are going to pick up wins in PGA which should taken them to top 2 spots after Vijay.

Indian,
I am sure that the professional golfers keep a close track of their world rankings.
I agree with you that 2006 will be the best year for Indian golf.

Both Shiv Kapur and Daniel Chopra made a jump of about 20 places in their raniking. For now both are still out outside top 150, but very soon we are going to see them inside top 150 and hopefully later in top 100. Jyoti by default made it into top 100.

It is good to see one Indian golfer in the top 100, and it is possible that we might have Arjun Atwal, Daniel Chopra and Shiv Kapur join Jyoti in the top 100 by the end of the year. It is easier for Arjun and Daniel to crack the top 100 and they can do it with a few top 5 finish on the PGA Tour. Shiv will have to win on the EPGA Tour or do outstanding on the EPGA and Asian Tours to get into top 100. Keeping my fingers crossed for them.

World Rankings of "Indian" Golfers - Feb. 6, 2006
Since last month, there is only a little change in ranking for most of the players except Shiv Kapur's ranking. He has almost caught up with Arjun Atwal and will continue to improve rapidly as Shiv still dosen't have 40 tournaments under his belt. So his actual average is much higher than the avg. points used for ranking.

Shiv Kapur has started very consistently at a young age. Let's hope he rises to become our very first Indian contender in the majors some day within the next 3-4 years.

I agree with your estimation of Shiv -- he has the potential to make it real big.
Of course, it looks like in the near future, Arjun and/or Shiv may overtake Jyoti to become the no. 1 Indian golfer.

If you go back in this thread, you will see that last some Indian was ahead of Jyoti Randhawa was in July 2003, when Arjun got ahead of him. Prior to that also, Jyoti was # 1 Indian golfer. As far as ranking goes, Jyoti has dominated the Indian golf scene. Lets see how long it takes for Arjun or Shiv to becme #1 Indian.

Incidently, Jeev's winner check of $300K at Volvo China Open is the second highest earning by any Indian golfer in a tournament. The highest earning record in a tournament is by Arjun Atwal ($330K)when he came P2 (2nd after a playoff) at BellSouth Classic last year.
