Good showing by Gaganjeet Bhullar prompted me to update the rankings. Gaganjeet is on the verge of cracking top 200. Jeev Milkha Singh has been slipping, but it was expected as he has not been playing. But he is still Asia's best, ahead of Japnese Shingo Katayama who is 43.

Gaganjeet Bhullar not only cracked the top 200 but also went past Jyoti Randhawa to become India's 2nd top most golfer. The 2nd place last week in Macau Open has pushed him to WR169. Jeev is currently at WR 47 while Jyoti is 194. Daniel Chopra is right now at WR200.

World Rankings as of Oct. 12th 09

A tournament in India always gives chance to Indians to get some ranking points and therefore we see a lot of changes. Hence it is a good time to update the rankings here.

The biggest change this week is obvious - Muniyappa soars to his best ranking. Beside him, Anirban with an excellent 4th round ensured that he also rose to his highest ranking. And Harinder Gupta is a newcomer to ranking. Bhular, who has been near his best for a month or so, once again equals his best. There is significant changes in ranking for Ashok Kumar, Mukesh Kumar and Digvijay Singh.

Jeev who took rest last week, dropped few spots to get out of top 50 after a considerable duration. He is lacking a big result this year. In past few yrs, Jeev had some good result near the end of the season. So may be a big one is coming soon.

The Golf world ranking system has changed with a cap on maximum divisor at 60. The idea is that if someone plays lot of tournament, he should be not penalized with higher divisor. This has directly benefited Jeev as well as Shiv Kapur. Jeev has jumped to 50. And if he keeps his ranking within 50 for first half of the year, he can get entry into Masters. Go Jeev!
