To answer the question on behalf of Safforn- Yes, we did send a second string side for Asia cup- none of the players of this world cup squad were there.

Re: Mens hockey world cup 2023
Beating Spain 2-0 is an expected result, not a surprising one.
As I have said many times here, this is not 2008-12. We have finished in the top 4 in every CT or Hockey League since 2016 (including the finals loss in the shootout against Australia in Breda that I watched in person) and also finally won a bronze in Tokyo. At worst, we are the 5th best team amongst the men.

Good job winning comfortably 2-0 against Spain in a wonderful new stadium. We need to beat England, and thrash Wales, to keep the momentum going.

Re: Mens hockey world cup 2023
Good start by the men in Blue, should have won with a bigger margin, but in the end didn't concede any goals which was important.
Am in Madrid now and surprised to see the intrest shown by the Spanish who are following this WC closely and the people I talk too are aware about it and the match which was beamed live ,like me there were avid watchers at the restaurant.

Re: Mens hockey world cup 2023
0-0 at halftime with England looking slightly the better team. We came back well in last 5-10 mins before half time but English defence was very good.
