Re: Asian champions trophy
We are playing a very young team here with 2 veterans, Birendra Lakra and SV Sunil. Let's hope we get some good talent from here which can be blooded into senior team.

Excited for tomorrow Hockey match between India and Pakistan...I bit scared too as India has announced pretty inexperienced team in the tournament.

Welcome to the sports-india community, Saffron Lenin (or Mr. Lehan Ajish... I just noticed that you had tried to post a couple of years ago in the football forum and the post was waiting for moderator approval. Sorry about that. The first post needs one of us moderators to approve -- to prevent scams/spams and blatant use of the website for advertising commercial sites etc.)...
yeah, hope we get past Pakistan tomorrow. We have been looking shaky lately.

The format is top 2 in each pool advancing to the semis. Given Pakistan's improvement under Aikman and Japan's emergence over the past 3-4 years, we have a tough job get out of the pool. However, some of the youngsters are very good and I'm hoping for some good results.

For the record, Pakistan held us to a 1-1 draw on a last minute PC conversion. Crap, but not disaster, I guess!

Crap, to have conceded in the last minute -- the old, near-forgotten habit. It is stupid to send an experimental side to the Asia Cup and risk losing our well-earned world ranking. Drawing with Pakistan in today's hockey world is a disaster for us!
Re: Asia Cup 2022 men's Hockey
Pretty scrappy game yesterday.
Both teams were so careless in possession and almost always took the most difficult options when a simple pass to an unmarked team mate was on!
India's game management was plain stupid. We must have given the ball away needlessly 4-5 times in the last 5 mins. And the usual habit of failing to win any 70/30 loose balls (50/50 loose balls are always lost) was on display....and picking up cards with pointless tackles when there is zero threat to our goal. PC routine was poor too. Pakistan had some good chances, but looked short of creativity. Overall, we were the better team.
I think it'll be tough to get a result v Japan unless we put away our chances and cut down the unforced errors drastically. It may come down to goal difference, although I suspect Japan and Pakistan may 'contrive' a suitable result if we lose to japan today.

And the Pakistan coach Aikman was the Japanese coach until few months ago , so definitely there won't be any shortage of goodwill

Re: Asia Cup 2022 men's Hockey
Another noticeable aspect , why would we change the entire team composition, therby putting us huge risk of falling in the rankings , and making things difficult for us, after winning the Bronze in Olympics,it’s like the 2011 Cricket World Cup which we won and that team to my surprise never played again together in any tournament.
