It was umpire referal I think. GBR did not complain but umpire still wanted to deny us.

Re: Tokyo Olympic 2020 - Hockey
I think right now, our skill level is totally befuddling Britain. Play solid well-coached game in the mid-field, and then pull out the skills and PC abilities in the circle. The way to play Indian hockey. Hope they can sustain this level for 30 more minutes. It will be Nirvana for us.

I thought it went out too, but on replays, it is not clear. The high camera angle from the center line is the only one that showed that it might've been but the back line cameras didn't show it clearly (not sure if they did any careful frame advance though; maybe not). Maybe it stayed in. Britain is lucky there. 3-3

Seems Bisla is on the mat - not expected to go deep irrespective of the R1 but so far down 0-1

Re: Tokyo Olympic 2020 - Hockey
That's something I thought as well. I feel that they overall have quite bad umpires in field hockey - but if you only have these perspective as a video judge, you might be also rolling a dice. Too many video calls are neither "you are right" or "you are wrong", but "there is not enough evidence to revert your decision"....jayakris wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 2:36 am I thought it went out too, but on replays, it is not clear. And if there is not enough evidence, then we have to go with the human judgement. One option may be to reduce the burden of evidence. Instead of having incontrovertible evidence, we should allow the video umpire to rule "on the balance" taking into account the ground call but most importantly the video to figure out what most likely must have happened instead of what must have happened.

It's Olympics, there is just one Olympic hockey pitch. I just expect the video judges to have tools they can really work with. Damn, 3-4prasen9 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 2:49 am And if there is not enough evidence, then we have to go with the human judgement. One option may be to reduce the burden of evidence. By the way, the German commentator is highly critizising the umpring, demanded multiple cards against GB for stick fouls.
I just see terrible positioning of especially one of the ladies. Now GB are allowed to take another video judge even though they failed in first half already? Strange things...
