Don't be so sure. Better for us not to tempt the sports Gods. We are experts at taking the foot off the pedal when ahead, relaxing and finding ourselves suddenly in a dogfight with USA up 2-0 on us in the next match. All of a sudden mistakes start happening and before you know it is 5-4 on aggregate. Then a PC will invariably be awarded to USA with 15 seconds to go, and it will be tied. In the penalties, of course, we will lose. It can all happen, and often does.
I'm still not over how we screwed it up at the Asian cup in football with seconds to go.
True, you can expect that kind of stuff from our hockey teams.
Currently, our men are giving sloppy display against lowly ranked Russia. Just about leading 2-1 at half time. This was expected to be an easier match but turning out to be a tough one so far.
Russia pull one back in the last minute and it ends 4-2.
We missed 1 clear field goal and 2 PC in last 2 mins. Some great defending and great goal keeping by Russians.
Watched only the second half but it did look like Russia seemed to have played their best and India much below par. It was a combination of both.
So, womens team with a 3 goal cushion and men with a 2 goal cushion going into second leg. I think it is better that less fancied womens team has better cushion. Hope we have 2 qualified teams tomorrow.
Good result by the women as the US is a pretty decent team.
Perplexing performance by the men who had easier wins in Europe against much better teams. At least they pulled out the win but it's pretty clear that they have very little chance of contending for medals in the Olympics.
I am not sure if we can say that based on just 1 match. In any case they only have a very long shot but all I am saying that performance in only this match need not affect that rating.
Excellent result for the women and poor from the men. As usual, late goals conceded....that's guaranteed.
We beat Russia 10-0 in the FIH series a few months ago. But this kind of erratic performance is all too common. Very pleased to see our women win so convincingly.

Couldn't be me, unless PKB's spirit possessed me or something!
