Nope. In the semi final we are against Germany. France will play Argentina in the other semi final.

Great defending by our team yesterday after that 1 goal. Next match against strong German side will show where these juniors stand.

4-1 down to Germany in the semi with 10 mins left.
Very disappointing show. We'll be playing France for the bronze.

India lose 2-4 to Germany to go out in the SFs. France lost on penalties against Argentina, so they could well beat us again in the 3-4th placing match.

Watching the bronze medal match. Painful to the see the poor play at the back. Already 2-0 down. Any French attack looks like a big threat or a sure PC. Lucky not to be 3 down.

At the other end, zero outcome from our circle entries. Losing possession needlessly all over the pitch. 20 mins remaining.

3-1 and looking really stupid at the back. Every French attack is a guaranteed PC. Now a yellow card for a totally idiotic challenge. Expecting a few more goals against us. About 15 PCs conceded so far. Joke stuff

True, a pathetic performance in this Bronze medal match ... The French team rightly win this match.

Yes, overall somewhat disappointing performance by juniors after the high of Tokyo. This is nice article about reason for our failure-

With no HIL experience on their CVs, India’s junior hockey players found wanting in big World Cup game

Good article with valid points.

It's been obvious for 30-40 years that we need to sort out a strong, viable domestic league to get results at international level. There's nothing in the pipeline as the administrators refuse to see this. Idiots.

Our women start their junior WC today v Wales. Given how things have gone for us in the past few months, I'm not expecting much :-(

We started with a 5-0 win over Wales. I watched first half and Wales were defending well against our girls. It looks like in second half we played much better.

Tough match against Germany tomorrow which will show where our girls stand.

We beat Germany 2-1. :bounce:

A bit lucky at the end but we wasted quite a few great chances. This is an excellent win especially as our senior team failed to beat this U21 German team twice in the recent Pro league fixtures!

Backs up my comments on the Pro league forum that we should try new players right now instead of persisting with the same weaklings that have let us down for years. This is more relevant on the men's side, because the women's selections have been more sensible.

Oh, is it the same German team which beat Indian senior team recently ?

I watched this team and our defense and goal keeping was top class. Our goal keeper saved a penalty stroke. German team got loads of penalty corners but could not convert any. This usually happens to us but glad to see that we were on the other side and we soaked up all the pressure and scored when it mattered. We did some opportunities too in second half on counter attack where we could have put the game beyond them. Still win over Germany is very good.

yes, Germany fielded their U21s in the Pro league matches against us and Spain. We had a few youngsters in our squad too, but we were generally poor in both our games (in the pro league).

We are likely to meet Korea in the QF and assuming we win that, we'll most likely meet the Netherlands in the semis. Had we not won this match v Germany, it would have been a QF v Argentina.

We beat Malyasia 4-0 to get our third win. Up against Korea in the QF now. Korea lost to Austria at group stage and barely beat Uruguay. So, this is a very winnable match.

We should beat Korea easily, but having watched us mess up chance after chance v Malaysia, it's not guaranteed.
Some brilliant play mixed up with usual display in the D. If we get through, Netherlands await. I can't see us bearing them (will be delighted if we do, of course) , so my guess is that we'll be playing England for the bronze.
