Re: Asian Games Hockey
So, the top two from each group move into semis? This could be tough with Pakistan and China in the same group (on the mens side). Especially if Brasa isn't around. I have no faith in Indian coaches.
Re: Asian Games Hockey
China is in other Group. That is Hong Kong China. We, however, have Japan in our Group. So, it will basically be two among Pak, Jap and Ind into the Semis.gbelday wrote:So, the top two from each group move into semis? Re: Asian Games Hockey
If we cannot defeat Japan, we do not deserve a medal. Simple. The grouping is reasonably fair. Korea is the top seed and thus gets the weaker China and Malayasia. India and Pakistan are #3-#2 seeds and they are together. I think both China and Malayasia are above Japan in the rankings and China is at home, so they get grouped with Korea.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
Have we heard for sure that Brasa will be there at Asiad? .. I think he was supposed to be, but he took off to spain after CWG, I think - and was pretty pissed at what all was going on if I am not mistaken.. Jay

Re: Asian Games Hockey
The team will attend a training camp from October 25 in Delhi and then leave for Guangzhou. I think Brasa will join team from October 25. In India due to SAI , SM, HI 's grace I am sure he doesn't have proper facility to stay and if we go by previous reports than his family never got benefit to stay in India as contracted.jayakris wrote:Have we heard for sure that Brasa will be there at Asiad? .. Re: Asian Games Hockey
Brasa may not even be on the coaches' bench at Asiad???
With Anupam in, who will be out of Asiad bench? (11/2/2010)
This is purely speculation from Arumugam in stick2hockey.com, but what he says is quite plausible, and he knows the pulse of Indian hockey like nobody else it seems... Unbelievable, if Brasa ends up sitting in the stands.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
Horrible, if that happens ... Instead should kick Harendra out of coaches' bench.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
At this point it should be Anupam Gulathi who should be out. Though I have no love lost for Harendra, at least at Asiad, whatever arrangement Brasa and Harendra, had worked --- in my view, probably because Brasa had already given up on anything after CWG and Asiad, and Harendra knows that his leech job over the past 2 years has worked perfectly and that it is only a matter of time before he will be the coach with Brasa out of there. But I guess christmas might have come early for him at Asiad itself, and it will be Harendra and Anupam running the team already, with Brasa a done deal. Sad sad sad sad sad sad.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
Typical stupidity from HI or anyone connected with Indian hockey. Brasa has undoubtedly started improving our play and as soon as that happens, we simply have to take 2-3 steps backwards and undo all the good work.
Let's look forward to the next wasted decade & beyond. Just so maddeningly sh*t.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
Indian women won 4-0 against Malaysian side ... Still not convincing perfomance I would say shaky start ... We gave lot many open spaces in defence, though Malaysian failed to take advantage but I don't think other top 3 teams will fail to take this advantage.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
Have we gone to the Asiad with just one goalkeeper for the men's team. Crazy, if true!!
