Re: Asian Games Hockey
Yes, it is India vs. Korea in both semi finals. Very tough but hope we pull it off in mens at least.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
Our women will play Japan for the bronze. Hope, we can win that.
Tomorrow, an important match for our men against Korea. Korea will be coming in hard with all the home support. If our guys can play as well as they played in the CWG, we have a chance. If we play like we have played so far here, we don't.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
So, here is one sport where we have outdone our performance in the last two Asiads!! Beating Korea in Korea is a big achievement: Chak De Team India!!
Let's peak at the right time -- in the final -- and qualify for the Rio Olympics in style!!

Re: Asian Games Hockey
Great win in a crucial game. Did not see the match. So, someone who saw the match can comment on our performance. But, finally the result matters. It is good if after a few average performances, we are peaking at the right time.
Big stakes in the final, gold medal and direct qualification for Rio olympics.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
If Walsh has taught them anything, the team will peak at the right time -- and turn the tables on Pakistan, winning by a comfortable two-goal margin!

Re: Asian Games Hockey
I hope thats what happens..we usually beat them in group matches only to lose in play offs...may be its time to do the opposite?
Re: Asian Games Hockey
Nice win, although can't watch any of the matches. Can some enlighten us on today's performance. certainly seemed better than the previous matches, although we are missing Rupinder for the PCs. Ragunath is a Sandeep type in the crucial matches. Also seem to be missing chances as our forwards seem to have trouble trapping the ball....again!
Don't care how we do it, but just beat Pakistan in the final. Need this win for so many reasons, but the main one in my opinion is to keep Walsh for the next 3/4 years.

Re: Asian Games Hockey
Saw the last three quarters of the match. The credit of this win without a doubt goes to our defense. Never have I seen the defense stand firm and not allow any shots at goal to the opponent. The stats speak for themselves, Korea managed to get only one PC that too in the final minutes of the match.Other than that, there wasn't even a single shot at goal by Korea.
The credit of the win also goes to Akashdeep Singh who managed to score from nowhere. His goal is easily the goal of the tournament. Repeatedly I have opined that this guy has the knack of scoring some difficult goals but lacks consistency.
The one area which we need to really improve upon is our forward line. We missed some easy chances, which if converted would have put the match beyond Korea's reach in the first few quarters itself. It's a pity that Chandi has been unable to regain the kind of form which he showed before the injury. Ramandeep and Sunil were again not impressive enough.
If India continues to perform the way they did, I am sure we will get the Gold however for that to happen, we need to get an early lead otherwise we all know how bad we are in the final few minutes.
