Last match was drawn 1-1 and so we win the series 3-1. Excellent performance.

Our women have just completed a 5 match series v Spain. The results were: 0-3, 1-1, 3-2, 1-4 & 4-1.
A bit inconsistent but pleasing to finish off with a good win. Spain are ranked one place below us in the world rankings at 11th.

Yes, decent results by the women assuming that these matches were played in Spain...

Our women's hockey team has shown improvement in Spain ... They defeated the World Cup bronze medalist, Span, 5-2 in the third match of the tour ... They have managed to level the series 1-1, before this, they lost in the opener 2-3 and drew 1-1 in the second ... The 4th match will be on the 31st January.

Some improvement should say 'for a change' a positive one. :D

In a first, psychologist on tour with India's women's hockey team
Sjoerd Marjine - “She (Priyanka) has been working with the team for a while now but that’s during the camps. We realized that was a shortcoming because the psychologist doesn’t really see the players in match situation. So, we felt it was very important for her to see the players in match situations to study how they react to situations on and off the field. Also, it is important for her to analyse how the group dynamics are when we play consecutive matches and how the players react to victory and defeat."

"There are times when the girls have something on their minds, but given the culture they come from, they don’t easily open up to a coach. But with Priyanka in the mix, I believe we can bridge the gap faster now.”

Our women were held to a 2-2 draw in the fourth match after leading 2-0 at one stage. So, the series ends in a 2-2 draw. Not a bad result by our 9th ranked team against 7th ranked Spain at their home.

We missed an opportunity of winning this match and the series as we were up 2-0 in the final match.

In the 2 matches against Ireland, we drew 1-1 in the first match and won the second match 3-0.

So, overall a pretty good outing for our women ending with 2 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss against 2 teams ranked slightly higher than them in rankings.

Good results overall.

Still wish we had beaten Ireland & Spain in last year's WC as that would have got us into the final! A huge opportunity was lost as we had ended up in the easier half of the draw. When it really matters, our teams usually lose matches. :-(

Our ladies have completed a 5 match series against GB. The results were 2-1, 0-0, 1-1, 1-3 & 2-2.
Seems first 2 matches were unofficial tests. Decent results overall, but we gave up a 2 goal lead with 5 mins to go in the last match. What a surprise. GB were experimenting a bit, but still nice to see us being competitive with a fast, physical team.
Good preparation for the Olympic qualifiers against USA next month.

Here is a really good article in the Times of India that reports Rani Rampal's thoughts in her own words, about the 6-5 win over USA to qualify - Rani Rampal pours her heart out talking about Indian women's journey to Tokyo Olympics

Our women have just completed a tour to NZ. The results were 4-0 win v NZ development side, 1-2 & 0-1 losses to NZ and 1-0 win over GB.

Quite encouraging results and especially pleasing to beat GB, who seemed better the Australia in a recent Pro League match. Can't remember if we've ever beaten a GB side.

We struggle to beat NZ although scores have got closer. It seems their speed and physical approach is too much for us....or has been in the past decade or so.

We win 3-0 against NZ in the last match. Good way to end the year.

Based on results in last year or so, it seems we are pretty close to teams ranked 5-8 ahead of our #9 rankings. Top 4 are probably still a bit above.
