Excellent result. Can't find out if NZ were fielding their strongest team. They have 2 Pro League games against GB at the weekend, so I don't think they were experimenting.
Based on results in last year or so, it seems we are pretty close to teams ranked 5-8 ahead of our #9 rankings. Top 4 are probably still a bit above.
Yes, I think we can compete well against GB, Spain & Ireland and now, NZ.

Of the top 4, Holland are way ahead of everyone and Argentina are also too good, but Australia haven't impressed me recently. Their speed and physique gets them results. We have a poor record against Germany, but given our improvements in the last 2 years, we could get a draw or even a win against these 2 teams.

Shows what continuity with a decent coach can do. When Hawgood was in charge, we'd get thrashed repeatedly by top 8 teams. Wasted so many years with zero improvements. Fitness and speed was embarrassingly bad and we had no clue about getting the ball out of defence. 2 passes and we'd gift possession away. Almost the entire match was played near our D.

Really good win by our women ... I think, tomorrow we have our last match against GB.

Appears to be blown out of proportion by the media. Returning a laptop is part and parcel of any full and final settlement.

Women's Asian Champions Trophy started on 5th Dec.

We started with a 13-0 win v Thailand. But the tournament seems to be over for us due a player contracting covid. Malaysia too have had to withdraw for the same reason.

The whole tournament should be cancelled or postponed.

9-0 win over Malaysia in our opening match at the Asia Cup. Very impressive result. We are the highest ranked team, but our men showed that doesn't mean much :-(

Live stream on watch.hockey, but the quality was terrible.

Just like the men, our women are messing up v Japan. 1-0 down in Q3 after having had most of the play. Sloppy keeping let in the Japanese goal from one off their rare attacks.

We look clueless in the last 3rd of the pitch. Silly errors all over the pitch. Passing has been pretty ordinary so far.

2-0 down after a period of exceptionally idiotic play by several of our players

We lost that match against Japan 0-2 and lost 2-3 against Korea today in SF. Watched part of today's match and both Korea goals which were scored during that time were due to poor defensive play.

So, both Indian men and women have come down from the Olympic high. Hope it is temporary.

But after their semi-final appearance, they are qualified for the 2022 Women's FIH Hockey World Cup which will be held in Spain and the Netherlands in July'22.

Totally expected loss to Korea. Defence and keeping was awful v Japan, so decided not to suffer the inevitable defeat in the semi final.

A horrible few months for women (this tournament and the Asian Champions trophy in December, which was cut short by covid), senior men at Asian Champions trophy and Junior men at the WC.

All our teams seem to have terrible decision making, clueless in attack and absolutely awful defending. PCs are a joke too.

This time i would spare them some flak. They have already given us more than what we expected at Olympics. After all the celebrations after that our teams will be a bit low on preparation. Also motivation will be low for these tournaments after high of Olympics.

Real test will be CWG and Asiad later in the year. If they continue to underperform there we can start bashing them.
