That's a brilliant win. Well done. What a change from our usual 1st match results at major tournaments.
And WE scored in the last minute.

Wow, that's brilliant. We're into the medal round.
I notice Australia beat USA 2-1 and will probably get through to the medal round.

Australia beats Belarus 7-0 so India are not automatically in yet although practically we are in. I think we would have to lose to a mediocre US team by 3 or more goals for us to not make the next stage.

USA has to win and keep 6-0 ratio. Right now as game is progressing, China is maintaining 3-0 ratio against NZ and I think they have to keep 4-0 ratio to qualify.

Mediocre USA defeated Indian girls 4-2.

We go into Pool E along with top3 of Pool A and Australia & USA.

I presume we will play the 3 teams that qualified from Pool A -Korea,England and Chile.
The loss to USA is disappointing because we now carry forward only 3 points into the medal round. I wonder if the Indian coaches realised the importance of the points carried forward?
To get into the semis, we will need to beat Chile (likely) and England (possible). Korea always give us problems because of their speed and fitness levels.1 win & 2 draws could be enough depending on other results.

Re: Women's Junior World Cup Hockey, Boston, USA, Aug 3rd-16th
I didn't realize that the top 3 teams make the next stage -- I had assumed that only the top 2 did. So India were automatically in irrespective of the last match result and maybe that played into their relatively lack luster performance.

We play England today. A win would set us up really well.
