Pakistan lost all their matches. They were pathetic and I'm afraid they are going through what we suffered back in the late 70s and thereafter. Meek in possession, lacking fitness, no structure, no tactics (due to incompetent coaches) and ball watching like amateurs. Just rubbish in all aspects of the game.

Just to underline the fact that physical prowess counts for lot in modern hockey, NZ lost 2-1 and 4-1 against the super fit and relentless Aussies, but the Asian teams were hammered 9-1 and 6-1. I feel NZ competed fairly well with Australia because they weren't pushed off the ball so easily and they covered their defensive areas quicker than the Japanese or Pakistan.

Both Asian teams were able to compete well with NZ.

Oh...and the umpiring was biased in favour of the non Asian teams :frown:

Pakistan are trying to get Rolent Oltmans to coach their national team. They certainly need someone who knows modern hockey. Pakistan have become as crazy as we were during the dark days of 1970s-2000s. They have appointed most of their great players from the 70s-80s with zero success, but keep changing the coach for almost every tournament.
They have just finished a 3 team tournament in Oman, where they drew with Oman (yes...this actually happened!!) and lost 3-2 to Japan in the final. In fact their recent record against Japan is pathetic.
