Great stuff.
Hope we improve quickly.
Great job done by Reliance/Ambani in developing the ISL model and executing it very well...

I watched quite a bit of the Goa-Delhi match live on TV (sitting 300m away from the stadium…but not knowing how to procure a ticket to get in within a few hours of arrival in Delhi). The quality of the football was generally superior to I-League play, but the Indian players were (usually) exposed somewhat. The level of play rarely was breathtaking in the 30-35 minutes that I watched (in the first half), before Rohit Sharma riveted my attention. The second half seemed to have been more exciting with 3 more goals scored, but unfortunately I didn't see those...

Nobody seems to be following this much, here at least! But Dhoni's team (Chennaiyan FC) are now leading Sourav's team (Atletico do Kolkata) by 2 points. Chennaiyan have a 33-year-old Brazilian called Elano Blumer (who scored two goals for Brazil in the 2010 World Cup, and was a regular in their national squad for many years, having played for Santos, Galatasaray, Manchester City and Santos again); he is the leading goal-scorer of the ISL so far. Seems to be a quality player.

Kerala Blasters have the veteran England goalie David James as player-coach. That is is awkward, because I wonder how he effects substitutions etc while manning the goal. In the last match, he was injured but had to labour on because he had already done 3 substitutions!!

Tickets are cheap and people are having a good time at the game. ISL should do well.

Chennaiyan and FC Goa did well in the second half, and Atletico de Kolkata did poorly. The play-offs should be interesting.

Atletico de Kolkata beat Kerala Blasters 1-0 in the final on Saturday, bringing the curtains down on what proved to be a successful inaugural event.

Mohammad Rafique scored the most-important goal in the dying minutes to help Atletico de Kolkata emerge triumphant at the DY Patil Stadium.

Congratulations to Kolkata

Atletico de Kolkata had a poor second half of the season (after striker Fikru got injured), but still somehow managed to scrape through to the title. Congrats to Sourav Ganguly and his team, and especially to the local boy (Md. Rafique, son of a jute mill worker from Calcutta) who scored the winning goal in the final (having come on as a substitute in the 74th minute).
