Sunil Chhettri played his 100th international match and scored 2 today in the 3-0 win against Kenya at Mumbai. Goal #60 and #61 following the hat-trick last week againt Taiwan in the last match. Vijayan (40) and Bhutia (42) are the next in the list for Indian goal scorers. As of today, Chhettri is also #3 behind Ronaldo and Messi in international goals among active players.
Just putting it down here for the record.

That's fantastic. And all the more so because for much of his career he has plowed a lonely furrow, with most of his teammates being far below his level.

8 goals (3, 2, 1, 2) in the 4 matches ending with the Intercontinental Cup. Make it 64 goals in 102 caps for India. Tied with Messi and behind Ronaldo for the most international goals among active players. Both the goals today were great, but the second one where he controlled a 50 meter aerial ball from Anas with one touch and tapped it with the left foot was brilliant.
Is Sunil Chhetri the greatest footballer India has ever produced? I say he is.

Congrats go to Sunil Chhetri for being selected for a Padmashree. Obviously well-deserved, and it should have been given earlier than now!
