That is very sad. I remember watching Mohun Bagan vs Mhd. Sporting as a kid. Times change.

Nongthombam Biren Singh, who played left back for BSF in 1981 as a 20-year-old when they won the Durand Cup, will be the new CM of Manipur. He also became a famous magazine editor in Imphal, and was the Congress spokesman in the state for many years. A highly accomplished individual who has promised good governance to Manipur. May he deliver!

I Indian football is in a great dilemma one side ita getting heavily corporatised on the other side the basic club level football team is going through the same problems like lack of infrastructure, lack of government support, lack of capable public support and no sponsorship.A great football giant of India have to call off their football team from the national league due to lack of sponsors and money, This team was mohamadan and they playing the I -League since it was invented. This team is one of the most supported teams in India. Not just mohamadan lots of teams had called off their name like this example Mahindra sporting etc.
But on the other hand, the ISL is a hit and popular tournament sponsor's, clubs and teams are waiting for their chance to play here but the problem is that this ISL will donate very little to Indian football development. That's because it doesn't generate any fantastic new player nor it donates anything to the development Indian football neither any extraordinary infrastructure. It just provides a little bit more money to some existing goog India players and a good coach for a couple of days. If it's not the case then how could a retired 40 years old retired player gets the chance here to be the skipper.
ISL is hit it gets hosted in channels is Ten, star etc but our local leagues rarely get an on-air hosting. The major problem behind this is a pure class difference there is very less money in our club level teams so there are not shining so rich and classy people find it tempered to watch them.Though they are the main reason behind the sustainability of Indian Football from the last 30 years. They provide junior level training junior teams and they function for the whole year.
Our is no football academy in India operated and financed fully by the Indian government. There is only TFA.
This ISL and all will not work we need football more academies and some world class coaches.Meanwhile, when we were busy with the matches between some of the richest franchises of India with being seriously happy with their corporate fictions, the under U-17 Indian football team have beaten one of the legendary football champions of the world, “Italy” with a handsome score of 2-0.The brave young boys of the Indian football have risen the Indian flag high on a foreign soil through holding it with their guts. But how many of us are aware of these facts? Certainly a very few, that’s because football is one of the most evicted sports in India by some Indian media and administration. But this is not the case internationally; their football is the most popular sports. Football is even the most competitive sports in the world as a huge bulk of Nations is engaged with this game. “Football is the highest family in the world and only in football; you see this kind of love” Pele once said.
According to FIFA around 201 countries official plays football and associated with FIFA and around 150 countries worldwide have football as their national game. But sad fully in India only a handful of states have their own football teams and there is only 1 fully functional football academy in entire India. Pele said that to bring Indian football out of the current abyss, the game should be made an integral part of growing up for kids here besides ensuring maximum foreign exposure for promising Players.
As play have to say about Indian football - You have to give players the chance to go abroad and play and gain experience. They can then come here and share their experiences. But, firstly, you have to support the base,” replied Pele. “You should have football in universities, schools, and colleges. It is important to start the sport at the right level,” added Pele.

I don't know in which thread to post it. The preparatory Indian women's U-20 team which is playing COTIF CUP in Valencia, Spain. Despite losing their 1st match 0-2 to Villarreal CF, they beat Bolivia 3-1. All the 4 goals are scored by India. Sweety(OG), Bala(1) & Ratanmala(2).
Today India will meet Mauritania & Spain on Wednesday in this 5 team tourney.
